Meaka's POV
"How would you describe your past with Layla?" the interviewer questioned. "Uhm," I tried thinking of words. "It was rather, chaotic." "How so?" The interviewer asked again. "We used to fight a lot, I guess." I shrugged along with my saying. Hah, this idiot really believes me?
"I see, did she say anything to you after her death?" he asked. "Nope, her death was unexpected and so out of the blue." That was the first time I answered truthfully to his questions. "Alright then, Mrs. Meaka. You're free to go." He allowed me to leave the room. "Please, follow me." The security guard said.
"You can wait for your ride on those couches." I practically ran to the couch. It was so uncomfortable sitting in that chair. Plus, it was so boring sitting in there for the past 40 minutes! I rested my back on the couch and brought my legs to my chest. I wrapped my arms around them, hugging them tightly.
I got a call on my cellphone, "Hello?" I talked first. "Hello," Who is this? "Uhm, I'm sorry but, do I know you?" "N-no." The caller said, obviously trying to contain his laughter. "Then who is this?" I asked in curiosity.
"No need to know, that isn't important. All I need you to know is... Your time is coming to an end." What the hell? Is this, Jeuo?? "Is this a prank call, Jeuo?" I heard a gasp in the background.
"Uhm, no!" He quickly said, "Come on, I know it's you!" I called him out. "Ugh fine! You got me." a laughter was heard. "I told you to be quiet, Jess!" He blamed her. "Hey! Don't blame her! Even if she was quiet I still would've figured it was you, your acting is terrible!" I rolled my eyes as if he could see me.
"Whatever." I looked at the clock that was unevenly placed on the wall., '10:41 AM' already? I have to call a ride, I'm not just gonna sit waiting here forever. "Hey, I'm gonna have to go now," I informed them. I heard groans from the two people. "Why?? It's been MONTHS!" "Yeah, we haven't talked like in agesss!" They exclaim.
"I know but, I'm kind of in the middle of a situation right now and I really have to call someone." I explain to them, "Fine! But, don't abandon us!" Jess shouts out. "I won't! I promise, now bye!" I hung up and quickly went to the dial pad and typed in my Mom's number.
Before I even had the chance to press the call button, I already got an incoming call from her. "Hello? Mom?" I questioned her presence. "Hey, there's a ton load of traffic right now and your brother has an appointment in 12 minutes. Could you ask someone else to pick you up? otherwise, I'll be late." Ugh, great!
"I'll check. If I don't find anyone, then I'll call you back." "Thanks, sweetheart, be home by 1." She hung up at the speed of light. Not even a goodbye? Or a 'I miss you'? Whatever. I went to my contacts and scrolled through it endlessly.
Dad is definitely busy, My brother is probably sleeping, and my cousin isn't even in this country. You know what? I'll just walk home at this point! I adjusted my coat and headed to the front. The two glass doors slide open for me to exit.
Finally, I'm out of this hell! The moment I walked out, I took a big whiff of the fresh air but, I smelt another scent other than fresh air. It was a mixture of fresh barbecue and smoke. My stomach grumbled the moment that scent entered my nose. I looked around to find the source of the scent.
There were people lined up in front of a food stand. That's probably where the smell is coming from. I could really use some food right now...No, you can't Meaka! it will take a hell lot of time and Mom said to be home early. I walked up behind the line of people in defeat.
Food is food! Can't say no to that. It took 9 minutes for it to be my turn. "I'll just have a Chiko roll." I told him, "2 pounds." He said. I rummaged through my pockets to pay. I passed him the money and he began to cook. It took me a few seconds to realize he was done.
I immediately took a huge bite because of how hungry I was. I was enjoying the flavor until some man bumped into me. He had extraordinary ginger hair, along with grey jeans and a white tank. "My bad, I'm just trying to get to my car." He excused himself and scurried away.
I was still thinking about his appearance and I didn't notice my Chiko roll was on the concrete floor because of him. I hate this! I hate this I hate this I hate this! I repeatedly said in my thoughts.
