Carlo's POV
"Alright, Detective Carlo. These piles of documents refer to the case of XXX. There are about twent-" The officer was interrupted by a loud argument occurring in the lobby. Officer Oak barges in, "Officer Luke, some madman just entered the building and is making a fuss." He took a breath before continuing his sentence.
"You should see this." He finishes off and turns around to hurry back to the scene. "Excuse me for a minute, Detective." I nod at him, "It's no worries." He speedwalks to the door and leaves the room while I go fetch myself a cup of water.
The sounds of the machine pouring small amounts of water are almost as loud as the fuss happening. I overhear the situation. "I'M NOT CRAZY! I SAW THAT BODY WITH MY GODDAMN EYES!" A voice of what seems like an elder man shouts out. "Sir, please sit down so we can resolve this problem. Otherwise, we're going to have t-" He cut off the officer's words again.
"I'M NOT CRAZY I'M NOT CRAZY I'M NOT CRAZY" I took a peak at the crack in the door, 3 officers were trying to calm him down. The elder man had a horrific expression on his face as if he had seen a ghost. He was wearing overalls with a button-up shirt underneath that had dirt on it. He looked like he was in his 60's.
I was so distracted by the scene that I didn't realize my cup was about to overflow. I took the napkin I shoved in my pocket earlier from the diner and used it to clean up the edges of the cup.
Ah shit, I look at my newly bought jeans. There were droplets of water on it. I used the same napkin I used to clean the cup and pressed it on the water that got on my jeans, the napkin absorbed it. It was still visible but, at least the cold sensation on my upper thigh started to fade away.
I took a sip of the freshwater that ran down my throat, sending tingles to my brain. I desperately chugged the entire cup of water down causing the dryness in my throat to vanish. I heard chatter in the background, except this time. The man's voice was calmer.
I check the watch on my wrist, I spent too much time here. This situation shouldn't concern me right now. I walked over to Officer Luke's desk then proceeded to take the stacks of documents and filled the boxes on the floor with them.
Halfway through arranging the boxes, Officer Luke stepped in. "My apologies about that, you can leave the boxes here. I'll order someone to send them over to your office immediately." I stood up and straightened my position causing my back to make a cracking sound. "Alright then, I'll be headed my separate way."
I leave the building and enter my vehicle. The engine struggles to function properly. I repeatedly turn it on and it finally does. I left the police station and headed back to my office.
I was greeted by my partner, he was holding a mug of tea while reading the article related to the case were working on. "So? did you get the documents?" He asked, I shook my head. "No, some elder barged in and caused a scene. The documents will be sent to our office today." I go to my seat to get back to work.
"Where did you stop? Did you find anything?" He continues reading then pauses, "No, I'm still on page 4." I sighed then resumed reading.
Hours past and the both of us seemed to have no luck, except I found the evidence that could crack this case once and for all. "Will, I found it." He looks at me from above his computer. "Which page?" He asks "27, line 13." he begins clicking his mouse with a fast pace till he reaches the page.
His eyes move along the sentence, then stops. "This, this explains everything." I nod. "I'll call Mrs. Anda right now." He takes out his phone and begins dialing the digits. "Hello, Mrs. Anda. Yes, this is Will. We found it."
