Lyra Rose Elizabeth Diana Mountbatten Windsor was a accident. William had a girlfriend Jessica Newman at the the time and she wasn't ready to be a mother. Neither was William ready to be a father aged just 18. But Lyra was the daughter of the Royal Family and they took care of their own. So when Lyra-Rose was born on the 24th December 2000, Jessica gave up her rights and William took care of her while putting himself through college. He and Jessica broke up and that was that.

William went on to meet Catherine and then began a relationship. But William promised that his daughter would be his first priority, which she was and Catherine never taught to interfere with that. over the years she became a maternal figure for the growing girl and a confidant. Lyra-Rose was even a bridesmaid at their wedding. But entering teenage years she began to feel isolated. She was a daughter to a Prince, great granddaughter to a Queen. But she couldn't be Queen. She was illegitimate, born out of wedlock. Lyra had become very protective of her family and country but she didn't know how she could translate that into something productive. It didn't help that along with her insecurities the public and the press messed with them even more by always revering to her little brother George as the heir and the eldest, like she didn't matter.

"Lyra-Rose, where the hell have you been?" William scolded standing up from his chair as the 17 year old tried to sneak back in "i have been worried sick. You ditched your security detail for days and all I got was a I'm ok text."

"Why do you care, huh?"

"What do you mean 'Why do I care?' of course I care you're my daughter."

"Lottie is your daughter. I'm just some accident, a concequence of failed protection." she slurred this conversation went from 0 to 100 in seconds. "Not even my own biological mother wanted me." she stumbled.

"Lyra-Rose. That's not true." William took a step towards her and she took a step back "Lyra, please. Please talk to me."

"Lyra! You're back!" George came running out holding his teddybear that his sister had given to him. "You promised you would read to me." Lyra looked down at her brother and softened to the little boy quickly wiping away fallen tears.

"Sorry Georgie. Come on you need to get back to bed." she picked him up and gave one last glance to her Dad and then left. William sighed and sat himself down. That's where Catherine found him and wrapped a arm around her husband.

"I don't know what to do Catherine. She won't talk to me anymore. She just shuts me out. Everyone is noticing how differing she is and asking me what's the matter but I don't know. If I don't know then how can I fix anything."

"Not everyone needs fixing, and Lyra is not your mother." William looked up to his wife and then stood up.

"I know she isn't. she won't be as soon as I know what's wrong." he left and went to his sons room, where his eldest daughter was reading to him.

"Again." George chimed making Lyra-Rose laugh

"No it's really past your bed time."

"Not fair. I haven't seen you in ages. Lottie was sad."

"I know but a friend invited me on a little holiday over the weekend." Lyra explained

"Where did you go?" George wondered

"I went to watch the F1 race down in Silverstone. Lots of cars racing around so fast it would make your head spin." she chuckled

"Daddy was worried." George told her making her sigh.

"I know. But sissy needed some time away. Now sleep with you." There was shuffling around.

"Are you sad again because you won't be Queen one day?" Williams ears perked up "I don't want to be King so you can be Queen instead."
