It is a rather typical late weeknight activity for them, having guests over, eat a home cooked meal and indulge in all sorts of more or less important conversations over dinner, drinks in hand. For most, that is. Though Haneul tends to not drink when she and Minho host their gatherings, prefers to be fully sober in case the kids need her to be there. Hwang Soyoung does not drink either though, considering she is far too pregnant to even think about something as simple as catching a whiff of any of the beverages their husbands share with each other.
Said pregnancy was also the main topic at the dinner table, the kids just too excited about the big baby bump of their aunty's, making little pressure points appear whenever the baby would kick against the hands of the two little girls, who would then giggle about it right after. Soyoung is always most endeared by the interactions with her best friend's daughters, loving nothing more than to see them as happy and excited as they always are. They are good girls, most certainly so.
With Narae being the oldest of the Lee children, six years old and very well mannered, yet never losing her big imagination in the slightest and Iseul, three years of age and most definitely the more quiet one of the two, there was not much Haneul had to look for during the entirety of dinner. She could concentrate on their six month old instead, could make sure her baby boy was well taken care of. Not that Minho would be of big help. Not during the dinners, that is. He usually helps whenever he can, but with his two closest friends present, he is far too busy with them instead.
Soyoung helps her friend put the girls to bed, reads to them while Haneul takes care of Dohyun, then proceeds to clear the dinner table and start cleaning the dishes in the kitchen, so her husband would not be disturbed.
He comes walking inside when she places the stack of plates down beside the sink, carries the big pot of stew inside, the one he always says is too heavy for her to lift, especially so when still filled with food, and sets it down as well. She smiles at him when he does, happily accepts him stepping closer next to wrap his arms around her from behind, rest both his hands on her belly.
"I know I need to lose some weight again, I'm sorry it's like this right now...", she quietly says, not having to wait long at all for a rather frustrated exhale from him in response. His chin rests on her shoulder while he watches her as she starts cleaning the plates she carried here only a little bit ago.
"We have this same exact conversation every single day and every single day I tell you the same thing in response.", he says, keeping his voice soft, retained, but with a glint of something hidden in his tone, wishing to come out. But it is subtle. So very subtle in fact that she does not pick up on it. But Minho can feel it, feels the need to let it out. As always.
"Yes, yes, you say it every single time. Tell me not to worry because I am oh so stunning."
"And I mean every word, sweetheart."
He leaves her there after pressing his lips against her clothed shoulder, walks right out into his rather spacious study to join his two friends.
"Ah, there you are, Minho! Tell Hyunjin to stop lecturing me about my life choices.", Changbin calls out as soon as he sees Minho in the door, then takes a sip of the whiskey he is holding and leans right back in his seat. Minho huffs out a little laugh and shakes his head, always finding these two to be so very amusing.
"What was it this time?", he asks, takes the glas carafe into his hand to pour himself some whiskey as well, then glances up at Changbin on the couch by the fireplace and Hyunjin who is leaning against the side of it, standing like he came to pose for a painting. It does not come as a surprise at all that Hyunjin rolls his eyes as well in that moment.
"Oh you know, just the usual.", he says, looks down into his own glass and swirls the liquid inside of it around with a few twists of his wrist. "Just reminded him how you have your own successful business, a wonderful wife, three children. And I am your right hand at said business, have a wonderful wife of my own and a baby on the way. But Changbin? He is still the same old. Still the useless guy he has been since we were young."
