Marcus was alive and while the thought of that made me happy, I couldn't ignore that he had been attacked and this was my fault. Mason was right not to trust me. I found it hard to find Lyus at fault for Marcus' trip to the hospital, even though I knew that he had ordered the attack. It was completely random though, or at least it didn't hold the same purpose as the other attacks. Lyus had ordered this to show his control, to make me feel uneasy - and it was working.
With a large crowd, it was easy to slip away. Mason and I had made the decision not to attend school. This had to be enough ammo to get Annalise and the others finally on their side.
I'd barely made it ten minutes from campus before I'd fallen to my knees in anguish. The tears shocked me, the way they shook me.
"Lucy, it's going to be alright," Mason promised as he bent beside me, wrapping his arms around my shoulders to bring me to a stand. I rested my head against his chest, finally allowing the fear I held deep within me to come out.
"How do you know? He attacked Marcus - he's building his pack! There's no way we can win. I can't kill him!" i didnt want to believe the words coming out of my mouth, but i couldn't deny the truth. As the days went on, Lyus and his pack grew in numbers., Crescent Falls would soon fall under his control and those who dared to cross his path wouldn't live to see another day.
"We wont let him win! We can't let him win Lucy. I believe in you, in all of us," Mason said. His hand cupped my chin, aiding me in looking into his eyes. I saw his fear, but I also determination. Seeing how much Mason cared made my stomach clench with fear. I had to tell him about last night.
"You don't understand," I started to say as I pulled away. My hands brushed away the tears. "I can't kill him. Theres someone inside of me, someone that loves Lyus." Mason's brows drew in with concern as he watched me, his expression now confused.
I'd started to explain to him everything that happened last night when a thought struck me.
How would You feel if he lost Lyla for the second time, especially if he were the one to kill her?
Just thought I'd give a little something. I figure this will be a short story (possibly no more than 100 pages if that), but there might be a sequel - or I might rewrite it to be better. You tell me !
