Lan Wangji was tired.

The palace was super busy with a lot of strangers who worked everywhere he stumbled upon, and they seemed to be there twenty four seven. Not to mention that everyone else was also busy with the Christmas party preparation.

He was a bit overwhelmed with how fast things were moving forward, but seeing how the kids and his friends were very happy and excited with the new beds, heaters, and modern showers in every room, he couldn’t say anything.

Since the whole place was being renovated, they ate buffet style at Liu Qingge’s place, and Wei Wuxian insisted on having at least three kinds of meat and everything else for the kids to enjoy. They had to grow up a lot after all.

“It’s just an excuse for you to eat meat three times a day.” Shen Qingqiu knew exactly what his employer had in mind when he saw that a truckful of artisan meat was delivered to Liu Qingge’s place.

“I just want to teach the kids about the world.” Wei Wuxian sliced a piece of jamon iberico and wrapped it around the freshly cut melon, then popped it into Jingyi and Yuanyuan mouths in turn. “You like it kids?”

“Um!” Jingyi nodded while chewing loudly and Yuanyuan also nodded as he carefully ate the strange food.

“More!” Jingyi exclaimed and Wei Wuxian laughed when he cut another piece of the ham directly from the whole leg that he imported directly from Spain.

“Only you can think of importing the whole Pata Negra to this god-knows-where.” Shen Qingqiu sighed. “I think we should invest in the shipping company since they’re able to find this place.”

“Oh, haven’t I told you? The daughter of the owner of this shipping company gave me shares for their company because they loved Ling Yun and wanted me to write them in as Ling Yun’s side chick.” Wei Wuxian waved his hand. “You can check my email, it’s all there.”

“Sometimes I wonder how those people could worship you like a god when you’re just a perverted, mediocre author.” Shen Qingqiu grumbled as he took out his tablet and started to open their business email. With the newly installed super powerful wifi, he easily accessed the email and there it was – the desperate proposition from the daughter of the owner of the logistic company who transferred half of her share to him in exchange for a special Ling Yun book that would use her name as the heroine – and the thank you email for the book.

“You wrote Desperate Measures – the horniest Ling Yun book ever – in exchange for these shares?” Shen Qingqiu couldn’t believe his eyes. “But I thought you did not accept any request?”

Wei Wuxian was known to never accept any request of any plot from his reader, no matter what they offered, so this was a very surprising development.

“Wait. Did you get the money to purchase this palace from your dividend from this logistic company?”

The logistic company was one of the biggest and oldest companies and one of the pioneers of the earliest independent shipping companies. Its yearly revenue could buy ten of this palace and if the heiress was the one that Shen Qingqiu was thinking about – the chaebol who followed Wei Wuxian everywhere and gifted many precious things to him – she was one of Wei Wuxian’s temporary squeezes who cried the loudest when Ling Yun died.

“Yes, and yes. Am I smart or what?” Wei Wuxian cackled at Shen Qingqiu’s astonishment. “And everything can be purchased with the right price.” He looked straight in the direction where Lan Wangji was talking to Xie Lian.

“You’re such a cunning man.” Shen Qingqiu shook his head in disbelief.

The sale of Desperate Measures was the highest of all the Ling Yun books, because the usually asshole wham-bam-thank-you-ma'am protagonist was so sweet and caring toward the heroine, and the sex scenes varied from candle-light romantic dinner to scorching- hot animalistic mating. It also had the most sex scenes out of all the other books, and Shen Qingqiu wondered if Wei Wuxian was in heat when he wrote it.

Apparently, money was the sole reason. And the sales were very good too. It topped the chart for ten weeks straight – a record for an adult romance book.

“I know, right? And I did it behind your back.” Wei Wuxian grinned and Shen Qingqiu couldn’t help but be amused at his childlike reaction. He just hoped that the heiress did not do something rash like chasing Wei Wuxian here and demanded him to revive Ling Yun.

God forbade.

“Can we get a huge Christmas tree like the ones we saw on the television?” Yuanyuan suddenly looked up to Wei Wuxian – who stuffed Jingyi’s face with the ham – with his innocent, glimmering eyes. “I saw that the… Santa Claus would come and grant us a wish if we become good kids.” He suddenly looked down and played with his fingers, and Wei Wuxian couldn’t help but want to kiss his chubby cheeks.

“Oh? Of course we can. Do you have a wish, Yuanyuan? Can you tell me what is it? A new toy? Clothes? Gege will tell Santa that you both are good kids so he will bring you tons of gifts!” Wei Wuxian hugged both kids tightly.

He did not have a good childhood experience, and for as long as he remembered, no one had ever given him gifts. So he wanted to make these kids’ Christmas full of joy and laughter so that they could feel that they were loved, and wished that they would grow into fine young men.

“Uh, we don’t want toys or clothes.” Yuanyuan looked at Jingyi – who nodded and became serious.

They both then looked at Wei Wuxian with serious expression.

“We just want to wish for our uncle’s happiness.”
