~Jax's POV~

I saw Pomni and Daphne sitting on the stage, simply engaging with one another. I knew it was creepy to eavesdrop, but I didn't care. I was interested, since they were both new, maybe their conversations will be weird, or maybe it'll be interesting to look into.

"So the exit door that Caine places around is fake?" Daphne asked Pomni.

"Yeah...kinda disappointing, I know. But it's kinda like a fake hope," Pomni told her. Daphne frowned, but Pomni gave her a reassuring smile.

"But we have each other. Right?" Pomni chuckled.

"Yeah. Right."

Daphne's voice was hinted with sadness, but she tried to mask it the best she could. I could tell she wasn't okay though. Maybe the whole situation is catching up with her? Eh. Oh well. It's not like I care.

Daphne glanced in my direction and then raised an eyebrow. Shit. She spotted me.

"Jax?" She gasped, her voice layered with a tone of disgust. I doubted it was on purpose though...haha...

I left my hiding spot and strolled up to the two.

"What are you doing here? Hiding?" Daphne wondered.

"I wasn't 'hiding.' You simply caught me at an inconvenient time," I lied. Pomni glared at me while I shrugged.

"Anyways, what are you two talking about?"

"Uh nothing," Daphne chuckled. "At least, none to your interest."

"What if it is my interest?" I wondered.

"*Beep* off."

I chuckled. I forgot how snappy Daphne is, and I love it.

"Fine, fine. In an hour it will be time for our next adventure anyways. See you never!" I exclaimed as I strolled away.

~Daphne/Y/N's POV~

I groaned. Jax is unbearable to be with sometimes.

"Geez, he's annoying," Pomni complained. I laughed and nodded.

"Not going to lie, I completely agree with you. Anyways, ignoring the fact Jax was here a second ago, what do you think today's adventure will be?"

"Maybe some form of tag," Pomni guessed. "Or finding the 'gloinks.' Since last time...Kaufmo abstracted...so it ruined the whole game, according to Caine. So we might redo that one a-again at some point, but I don't know."

"Ah...how was Kaufmo like?"

"I don't know...he abstracted on my first day. I never met him."

"Oh...I'm so sorry to hear that."

"It's fine. We'll...all abstract eventually."

The air was heavy. She was right. We were all going to abstract at some point. Nobody wants to live for the rest of eternity. but I want my life to be fulfilled as much as possible before I meet my demise...my inevitable demise...

"We don't need to worry," I reassured Pomni. "I'll make sure you won't abstract anytime soon."

Pomni looked at me in the eyes and smiled. "Thank you, Daph. I'll make sure you won't abstract anytime soon either."

I pat Pomni's head as I smile sweetly. "Thanks. Wanna be friends?"

"Of course! N-Nobody speaks to me often besides Ragatha, so I would love to be friends with y-you."

"Let's rest up in our rooms for the next 30 minutes until our next adventure, okay?"

"Okay!" Pomni agreed. She followed me to our rooms before we parted ways. I was in my room now, and I plopped myself down on my bed. I felt exhausted, even though I barely did anything today. Just simply spoke to Pomni. Yet, I felt drained. Maybe Jax has drained me.

But I simply laid on my bed, waiting for Caine to call us over for our adventure today.

This chapter was alright, but it could be a tiny bit better. I haven't updated this book in quite a bit, and I do apologize, but I've been losing a bit of motivation since I'm not really proud of how this book is going. If you do like how it's going, however, please comment! It gives me motivation to continue a book when I have no motivation lol. With that being said, I hope you have a wonderful rest of your day :)
