Chapter Six: Talking

While in my room, I was sitting on my bed, staring at the ground. I didn't know what to think, or what to do. I was trapped here--that much is obvious. But something was wrong about this situation. I didn't feel like myself. When will I ever feel like "myself" now?

Being with my own mind is a scary place--it won't shut up. Even Jax's insults are floating around my head. Am I really that quiet? Or dramatic? God, I don't know. But maybe I really am that quiet, sensitive, and dramatic.

While contemplating everything for who knows how long, I heard a knock on the door. I glared at the door for a bit before I got up and opened it. Jax was on the other side, smiling at me.

"Hey, may I come in? Oh wait, why would I ask you that?" Jax chuckled as he pushed me aside to walk in my bedroom. I closed the door and raised an eyebrow.

"So...why did you decide to come in?" I wondered. Jax shrugged.

"I'm bored, and all the others are too boring for my liking. Since you're new, maaayybe I'll have a bit of fun around you."

"Huh...alright," I sighed.

"Entertain me, peasant," Jax joked. I slapped him on the arm.

"Not a chance."

"Aww come on! Aren't we friends?"

"We've only spoken once, but...I guess?"

"Exactly! So why won't you entertain me?"

"Because I'm not your toy to play around with?"

"Fair. But I need entertainment somehow. Caine is probably going to start the show tomorrow."

"The show...?"

"Yeah. We're part of a video game or...children's show...or whatever it is at this point. Caine gives us adventures, and we do them! They're always a bit mediocre, but it's for entertainment or whatever."

"That's...weird."

"Yeah, tell me about it. But nobody can rebuttal against Caine."

"Why?"

Jax looked at me, frowning a bit.

"I don't...exactly know, but Caine creeps me out. I won't be surprised if he can somehow...hurt us in any way, but he does...threaten us once in a while."

"That's awful."

"I know. But you can't escape the grasp of our 'ringmaster.'"

"I can help us find a way out," I offer. Jax laughed in my face.

"Are you kidding me? I've been stuck here for years! I doubt you--a newbie--can do anything about it."

"Don't doubt me."

"I can, and I will."

I sigh, "fine, but it doesn't hurt to try?"

"I guess so. But I doubt an angel like you can do anything about our situation."

"Angel...?"

"Hm? I never said angel," he lied. "You're a devil in disguise."

I smirked, "sure..."

"What?? You are! Just pretending to be all cute and pretty just so you can hurt us later."

"Thanks for the backhanded compliment...?" I muttered underneath my breath. I said the last sentence louder, "oh, you caught me!"

Jax smirked, "I knew it. You can't trick me, Daph."

"Yeah, apparently I can't," I decided to humor him with that comment. I liked teasing him and making him smile, I don't know why. Maybe it's because his reactions are priceless.

"Sooo...are you ready for tomorrow?" He asked that as he looked at me in the eyes.

"I guess so. Ready as I ever be."

"Fair. I can't wait to see how awful you do at our little adventures."

"I doubt I'll do that bad."

"I don't know, you seem kinda dense, if you don't mind me saying."

"Ouch. Rude."

"Hey, I never promised I was nice, doll face."

"Fine."

I crossed my arms and avoided eye contact. Jax simply chuckled at my sour facial expression.

"You're funny to mess around with," He mentions. I sigh.

"Yeah, yeah...I kinda figured."

"Oh really? You know that you're a drama queen?"

"Yeah...?"

Jax laughed, "at least you're self-aware."

"I guess?"

Jax walks to the door. "I better leave you to your little...contemplating. I can leave you alone now. Bye, drama queen."

Jax waves as he leaves my room, closing the door behind him. I stand there, dumbfounded. I didn't know what to do, besides staring off into space, pondering what I should do.

I decide to lie on my bed, staring at the ceiling, getting lost in my own thoughts...

I'm not a huge fan of this chapter, and I do wish it was a bit better, but I hope you enjoyed reading it though! If there's any ideas for chapters, or anything you want me to add in the next chapter, let me know!
