"Micah Fox, you are known for being one of the most controversial music artists of our generation." I chuckle at this. "You have made headlines for your past addictions, public disruptions and violent outbursts. Since coming back into the spotlight following a three year hiatus, you have become a little more recluse only sharing news about your music. Why is that?"
"Because everything you read about me is about the overdoses, the drug and alcohol abuse when I am much more than that." I pause for a moment. "I went to rehab for four months during my hiatus before going to jail seven times and my last prison stint was a seven month sentence for assault on a former bandmate. Prior to that I did five months inside for setting fire to one of my ex-girlfriends car and doing some vandalism."
The host looks at me in awe, "How are you so comfortable speaking up about that?"
"It's not that I'm comfortable with my past but I have made peace with it." I shrug my shoulders. "I'm not going to lie about what I did because I really did fuck up my life and I have some regrets because it affected the relationships with those that I cared most about."
"Your mother."
"My mom passed away shortly after I overdosed on my last tour, Dungeon." My mouth goes dry as I'm reminded of the death that affected me most. "I blamed myself heavily for her death which is why I checked into rehab but I was so consumed with guilt that I checked myself out after four months and went back on drugs hence the violent outbursts."
"I don't personally know you but I want you to know that you are not to blame for your mothers death and if she could see your redemption arc then she would be so proud of you." The host leans forward and our hands clasp for a long moment as I take their words in. "People have had so much to say about you but I think you're alright and the fact that you are aware of your actions is more than anybody could ever expect. The world loves you because you are a genuine person who is able to own up to their past and do better moving forward."
