The pack awoke early that morning, ate breakfast, ensured their supplies were filled, and were taken through the city to the far left wall. The King led them in along with his royal Magic person, coming to a halt at the entrance of a tunnel.
"This is the fastest way across the sand desert. During breakfast you received a map of where to go." He nods to Bonnie who nods back, "You will travel to the end of the caverns and exit just a day's walk away from the Lava Kingdom's border."
He stepped aside for them to enter, "After that you will need to cross into the Sun Kingdom, then Ocean Kingdom. Afterwards you need to cross the Ice Empire, then you will make it home."
They thanked him and he wished them luck as they disappeared deeper into the caverns below the sand dune desert.
Left turns here, right turns there, traps this way and that, passages too small for even the pup to go through and yet they continued forward. The darkness was avoided with their gifts and elements, with light stones they used to read and keep the little one calm.
The largest passages could let them walk in threes but the smallest had them squished, dragging their supplies behind them just to make it through. But alas they made it through.
Then the tunnels began to reappear, starting out like a normal series of passages, forcing them to walk in a line with Bonnie leading the way. Just then however, they began to notice something in the walls and on the ground.
The further in the more they realized what they were seeing...
"Bones." Zarsh said with a shaky voice, "Why are there so many bones here?"
Dark spoke softly so it didn't echo through the tunnels, "These are the skeletons of the warriors who died in the Ancient War before the beginning of the Kingdoms. At least that's what the books I've read have said, for all we know it could be something else entirely."
They walked until they entered a huge room, direwolf skulls were present surrounding multiple pedestals that held piles of rings. Direwolf royalty rings. Each was tied together like a tree upside-down, it made them look around for more information.
Until..
"Halt."
They stopped instantly, looking up towards the top of the cavernous room to find a skeleton dragon watching them. A Boneknapper.
He growled at them, they backed up but Raven and Dark stood in the front, looking at the old dragon in silent respect. The giant elder class dragon lowered down to their level, great eyes looking at them in search of any ill intentions.
Upon seeing none he lowered his threatening appearance for a more approachable one. Of course he still maintained the appearance of being a creature who demanded respect without asking for it.
The pack was unsure of what to do, but the sisters knew and they bowed their heads in respect to the great beast before them. The eyes of their friends watched the two before deciding to join the act of respect.
"I see. You know of my purpose here don't you young ones?"
They raised their heads, the dragon was talking to the sisters, so they responded.
