{Mercy's POV}
We made our way towards the Inner City as my heart beat viciously against my ribs. We were all silent as we rode as I collected my thoughts, and nobody really bugged me about what was going on. I could tell that they really trusted me.
We were nearing the Inner City gates. Mikasa and Armin were on my left and right, while Sasha, Connie, Eren and Jean followed closely behind.
I began to speak loud enough so everyone could hear me.
"Levi is in trouble," I said shakily and I heard Jean groan behind me.
"We're well aware, Mercy, but why?" Jean sighed as we rode along in unison.
"Listen, I'm going to come clean about something..."
Armin and Mikasa perked up. The wind blew Mikasa's hair and it ebbed and flowed across her vision as she stared at me. I could feel Armin's eyes boring holes into mine with intensity.
"I.. I wasn't kidnapped by sex traffickers," I began through a pitiful sigh as I glanced at Mikasa. I had heard about her past. I knew that she would frown upon my confession, but she stared at me with the same expression as she listened. "I was kidnapped by my father's men."
"Why would he-"
"Your father?"
"That's so messed up..."
"Listen!" I cut them all off as anxiety grew inside of me. "My father... he's a terrible man. He's the reason I'm so strong... He-"
"Mercy, give us the whole story!" Armin butted in. "You're just confusing us."I nodded my head as I stared forward. Anyone that saw us coming in a flash of green quickly stepped out of the main drag as we galloped along.
"My father had used me as a test subject after my mother died. Long story short: he planted a device in my head that acts as a gateway for my body to reach it's full, heightened potential. My Aunt Mary, don't ask, was able to wipe, well, hide my memories from me, but when I hit my head on graduation night all of my memories slowly started coming back as if it was all knocked loose."
"What the hell does that have to do with Levi?" Sasha chimed from behind as they all leaned in closely to listen. It was hard to hear over the whipping of our capes and the townsfolk making their morning commute.
"I'll get there, damnit," I muttered before I pulled in a deep breath to continue. "I remembered something when I slept this morning: somehow my father made himself the King of the Underground. He sent me to the Scout Regiment to assassinate someone, and before you all ask... no, I don't know who the target is. T-That hasn't come back to me..."
I pulled in a deep breath as I tried to continue.
I could feel the hands of the masked man on my thighs and tried to wipe them away with my free hand as I held the reigns with my other.
"...My father... He has an army of people just like me and plans to overthrow the above ground government system and take over. He has over a dozen men who are equal to my strength, and they're going to stop at no end to get what they want."
"But why is Levi in the Underground if this is going on?" Armin asked sincerely. "I know he wanted to find Ed but... Wait, why did Ed go down there?"
"He didn't know. I just now remembered it after Levi had already left, and Ed was going down there to scope the area and bring back intel... Levi is in trouble. My father will no doubt have him killed."
"Levi can hold his own," Mikasa added flatly. "He always ha-"
"Not like this..." I shook my head as tears welled in my eyes. "These men... Their will is that of a thousand oxen, and their strength combined of a thousand men. Levi is use to taking down mindless Titans, but not a handful of people with enough training and skill to desecrate an entire community. He.. He isn't going to make it out alive if we don't get to him!"
By the time I had finished my sentence the tears were already streaming down my face. Just the thought of them even drawling an ounce of blood from Levi made my stomach curdle.
They all stared at me with concerned but sympathetic eyes.
"We'll be able to help him, Mercy. You need to relax yourself," Armin said soothingly but I shook my head.
"He's probably already dead..." I said with a mouthful of dread. They all stared at me for several moments before Jean chimed in.
"So you don't know who the target was at all?"
"No... My brain doesn't want me to know, and my Aunt Mary made sure it stayed concealed," I said flatly as I looked back at Jean who's hair flapped in the wind behind his ears. He nodded his head, but he still seemed confused.
"I know this is all confusing guys," I began through a sigh, "And I'm sorry for lying to you this whole time about it all, but I didn't have a choice."
I looked to Mikasa.
