Veronica hears someone walk into the bathroom. Great. Someone mumbles 'Shut up!'

...

Heather?? She hears water running, it sounded like she was filling a glass. A drink. That's what she needs right now. She takes a deep breath and opens the door, just in time to see Heather spit out her water into the mirror.

'Heather?'

The girl noticeably flinches at hearing her name. Veronica slowly approaches her. Heather turns around, and if Veronica looks closely, she can see tears in her eyes. Heather tries to fix her mask back in place, to not show emotion but decides against it, being too tired. 'Heather?' Veronica repeats, a little more worried now. She doesn't reply. She just walks up to Veronica and rests her head on her shoulder, not explaining anything (but it's Heather Chandler, she doesn't have to explain anything) Veronica tenses up, not having expected this. Only when she hears the first sob does she realize that Heather is crying. Heather Chandler. Crying into her shoulder. She takes a step back, worried that she'll invade Heather's privacy, but Heather just wraps her arms around Veronica's back, clinging onto her tightly as her sobs get louder. Veronica hesitantly wraps her arms around Heather, rubbing her back. In response, Heather sighs, slightly relaxing into Veronica's arms for as far as possible while sobbing uncontrollably.

'Hey Heather, It's okay..' Veronica tries to soothe Heather a bit. 'I've got you now.' Heather only sobs louder after hearing that. 'Do you- are you drunk?' Veronica asks Heather. She smells like vodka but it could also just be the party. Heather shakes her head in response, letting Veronica know that, no, she's not drunk. 'Did something happen with David?' Heather nods this time. 'Did he do something to you?' another nod. 'I'm going to kill him,' Veronica growled, balling her fists and tensing up. Heather looked up at her with big scared eyes, moving to take a couple steps away from her but tripping and falling backwards, opting to just use her legs to move herself back until she hit the wall, trembling and looking up at her with big, tear filled eyes, shaking with pure terror. Veronica notices, snapping out of her angry haze. 'I'm so, so sorry Heather, let's make sure you're okay first.' She moves towards Heather slowly, trying not to scare her even more. Once she's reached Heather, she sits down next to her, waiting for Heather to make the first move.

And make the first move she does. She moves to sit on Veronica's lap, wrapping her arms around her tightly, still sobbing into her shoulder. While Veronica is slightly surprised at this, she doesn't fight it. She just wraps her arms around Heather, holding her while she cries. 'Do you want to talk about it?' Heather shakes her head. 'Do you want me to leave?' She frantically shakes her head again, her blonde curls swinging from side to side. 'Do you think you're comfortable enough to talk?' Veronica asks gently. Heather looks up at Veronica, confused. No one's ever asked that before... they usually just yell at her for not talking, which only makes it worse. She looks down in embarrassment, shaking her head ever so slightly.

'That's okay Heather.' Another confused look 'It's okay if you don't want to talk, really.'

She leans her head on Veronica's shoulder again, shuddering from the sobs as Veronica tries her best to comfort Heather. 'I've got you now... Let's get you comfortable' She picks Heather up, carrying her to the bed in the other room, but stopping when Heather tenses up and starts shaking even more, letting out a little sound.

'Oh, of course, I'm sorry'

She opts to just carry Heather to another empty bedroom, which was more of a challenge than she thought it would be. After walking in on at least five couples making out and another three doing... things that made her want to just chug a glass of draino, she finally finds an empty room, laying Heather down on the bed. When she wants to get up again, she's stopped by two arms wrapping around her neck.

'Heather...'

'No! ...Please stay?'

The way she says it, so small and broken, almost makes Veronica break into tears too. 'Of course, I just wanted to get some water for you, you need to stay hydrated with all that crying.' This earns her a huff, but Heather lets go anyway. Veronica gets up with a chuckle, moving to get Heather some water. Once she gets back, she hands the water to Heather, which takes it with two hands, chugging it. Veronica chuckles again, Heather looks like an adorable little toddler like this. That chuckle earns Veronica a glare... okay an angry little toddler, but still an adorable one. She gets into the bed next to Heather, which immediately moves over to lay her head in Veronica's lap, wrapping her arms around her.

'...sorry...' She whispers, it's smothered by her face being pressed against Veronica's stomach, but it's still clear. Veronica frowns.

'Sorry for what Heather?' It's silent for a bit as Veronica moves her hand to gently trail through Heather's wild curls. 'What are you sorry for?' More silence. Veronica knows she shouldn't push, so she waits. And waits. Finally, after what feels like an eternity, Heather speaks.

'Everything... I'm sorry for not talking, for crying, for being scared of you when you didn't mean to scare me, for making you carry me to an empty room because the one we were in made me want to throw up.... For being so clingy and just-'

'Zip it'

'What?' Blue eyes met brown ones, confusion flickering in them

'I said, zip it'

'I don't-' She gets cut off by soft lips against hers. The soft lips disappear quickly, too quickly if you ask Heather. 'Shit' A familiar voice says. Not just some voice, Veronica's voice. 'Shit, I'm sorry Heather I shouldn't have-'

'Zip it'

'What?' It's Veronica's turn to look confused now, her brow furrowing in an adorable way.

'I said, zip it' She's copying Veronica's words, and she's loving it. A small smirk is forming around her lips, which soon turns into a full grin. As Veronica catches on to what Heather is doing as well, a small smirk starts forming across her lips.

'I don't-' This time it's Veronica who gets cut off by a pair of lips, this one red and tasting like strawberries.

Stop I love this so fucking much omfg
