Audrey's pov
I.need.coffee.can't.focus!
I heard there's a cafe literally a few blocks from where I live, and I most definitely need caffeine to pump me up!
I had left over pizza for breakfast, and it's not enough, I'm still hungry.
Maybe I could get a coffee and grab breakfast as well.
With a sigh, i finally changed from yesterday's clothes to a random black flowy dress I found in one of the plastic bags, then wore my sneakers since that's what I've been sporting since moving.Yeah, i did not miss Californian weather! Oh my word, it's so hot and it's only ten in the morning.
Finally, my long walk to caffeine begins. It goes like this, a very friendly looking woman who was walking her chihuahua smiled at me as I passed her, and then I stepped on gum.
Gooey sticky gum. WHO ON EARTH WOULD COMMIT SUCH A SIN!!
Two weird stares from a teenage couple later, I find myself in front of the large double glass doors of the cafe.
Damn. I bet the coffee in here costs about 50 bucks, this Cafe seems very luxurious.
Even the workers dressed in their black shirts, khaki jeans, and black bucket hats for the waiters and the people who worked at the back and bucket hats for the cashiers, looked so expensive.
Their work uniform was cool and wasn't one you would be used to. I'm used to bright working uniforms, pink, blue, bright green, etc.
It was a 2 dimension themed Cafe, with fresh plants on each corner, A few scattered round tables, some with three chairs and some with two.
The strong smell of coffee brew made my lips curl up, I don't mind spending a million here.
The designs intrigued me so much that I ended up bumping into someone.
"Oomph, I'm so sorry." I quickly apologized as a beautiful Indian lady turned around to assure me it was ok.
She had long dark brown hair that was lighter at the ends and big Black eyes, pink lips, and has the most beautiful features I've ever seen on a woman besides my mom. My mom is the most beautiful woman I know.
After that, the lady shifted to the side so that I could make my order whilst the cashier gave me a very sweet smile.
The cashier seemed to be a teenager. She was wearing a black bucket hat that popped out her bright blue eyes and light freckles on her cheeks across her nose. She has a nose ring and big lips coated in a beige matte lipstick.
"Hi, welcome to LA vie Cafe, My name is Raven, what can I get for you today?" She asked and showed off her rabbit pearly white teeth that shined if possible.
Wow, it's the second beautiful person I've met today.
"Hi, I'll have uhh -" I drifted off as I titled my head up to read the menu.
Hmm, the grilled chicken and mayo sandwich looks appetizing.
I turned my titled head a bit to the right, allowing my medium length twists to fall on my shoulder as I did so.
The coffee menu seems so interesting. They have different character's names for each coffee.
Such as the Harry Potter coffee, which is basically the butter beer Black coffee. Ouuuu, I'm so trying that, but then again, the Barbie frappe is calling my name.
The Barbie frappe is everything I love in a coffee. It's a vanilla bean frappe with a drizzle of salted caramel syrup. Sweet and salty, just how I like it.
"Sorry, I'll have the grilled chicken and mayo sandwich, one glazed donut. Uhm, give me a small cup harry Potter coffee and a medium cup barbie frappe" I gave my order to Raven who nodded then started typing away on the large screen.
"Ok! Your total is $55.79" she said.
$55... really? Damn
Realizing I forgot my wallet and at my apartment, my eyes averted to Raven, who seemed to have picked up what was going on.
"I-uhh, I seem to have forgotten my phone and wallet at home. I'm new here, can I get the order, you can follow me home to get the money, " I whispered so that no one would hear me.
"Ok! Two freshly made bacon and egg bagels and two expressos ma'am, " a redhead said cheerily to the lady I bumped into whilst in line.
"Thank you so much, cathy!!" She said, then took out a 100 dollar bill and gave it to Raven.
"Your order is on me," she said with a genuine smile as she finally faced me
Damn, she looks glaced with money. Though I must say, she does look familiar.
I wanna deny her offer, but I'm so hungry, and the food here looks too tantalizing to miss.
"Oh my, thank you so much! Life saver!" I genuinely said with an upside side and a creased forehead.
"No problem!" She said, then left.
"Your change ma'am" Raven said, and I gently pushed her hand back to her.
"No, please keep the change," I said, and she grinned at me.
Soon, my order came and thus began my long walk home.
Yes! 10 blocks is a long walk, especially since I'm holding one iced coffee and one piping hot coffee that had a very strong smell and made me sweat in this heat.
I hold the white plastic, that's holding my most precious item....the grilled chicken and mayo sandwich, with two fingers and the two coffees on the same hand, I'm so glad I'm good at balancing stuff.
At least I can eat my glazed donut in peace as I walk to the penthouse apartment.
The teenage couple that gave me weird looks were now arguing a few meters away from the double glass doors that led to the reception of my building .
I smiled at the receptionist as I made my way to the elevator, and luckily, the doorman was there to press my floor level button for me.
I finally got to my penthouse that now seems cold and alone. I realized whilst outside that I'm lonely.
I've been alone for so long that it's hard to tell if I'm lonely or not. I mean, I'm content with myself, but...I don't know, I miss being held, I miss being cuddled and spooned, being told sweet nothings that flatter my heart for no reason.
Sigh. I guess.
I took a sip of my Harry Potter coffee, and it almost took me to heaven whilst the Barbie frappe sent me to heaven.
This food is too good!
Food...I find comfort in eating, I get the feeling I got when I did drugs. I feel high, especially when the food is good, I guess that's the reason I became a chef and resturant ceo at the same time.
Wasn't that a family decision?
Shut up!
