                             Audrey's pov

2 weeks later

"That doesn't explain the missing $40 000 from the past six months," I suspiciously eyed Delilah, the accountant who worked under Megan.

I did financial accounting as an extra class back in university, so she can't lie to me now.

"That $40 000, as you can see in the cash flow, goes to MJ electrics for the services they provide every month." Delilah answered, then scratched the back of her neck nervously.

"Oh really, and how much is their rate per hour?" I asked, finally putting the papers down and interlocking my fingers together.

"Uhh, $112 per hour, which is $6 667 per month," she answered confidently.

This girly really thinks I was born yesterday.

I hummed and then picked up my phone that layed next to my iced Barbie vanilla bean frappe, which I obviously got from LA vie Cafe.

I dialed Mr.hummer who is head of finances at MJ electrics.

"Mr.Hummer, This Audrey Saunders speaking, I wanted you to email me a financial statement of all transactions that took place between The cozy Table and Mj electronics please and thank you" I said then hung up.

Within five minutes, the statements were emailed to me, making me smirk at Delilah, who already knew her fate.

Upon checking the financial statement, I got the answer I already knew.

"Uhm, you say it's $6 667 per month, right?" I asked, and she nervously nodded.

"So then what is $6 667 multiplied by 12" I asked.

"Uhhh Ma'am, i-" she stuttered

"No, you have been embezzling funds from the company as it says here that every year we pay $80 000 but on our financial statements it says we pay MJ electronics $120 000, care to explain?" I corked my eyebrow, giving her the most intimidating stare I can muster up.

I watched as Delilah slowly started to Crack, her eyes grew glossy, and tears started to shed.

"I-im sorry, please Ma'am. I'm a mother, I did this for my kids, " she begged, wiping her tears.

Well, I can't charge her for embezzling company funds as her kids need her but she also has done wrong and if I don't lead by example, these employees won't respect me enough to respect this resturant.

"You're fired, Miss Green." I said with an authorative voice, making her red glossy eyes buldge out.

"No, please, no, you can't fire me! I'm a single parent, " she begged as more tires started to form in her eyes.

"Would you rather me charge you for theft? Now, please. Kindly exit my office, Kyle will email you your termination letter" I said then proceeded to scroll on my phone while she stood watching me, soft sobs filled the room and soon enough I heard the door open and close.

Well, i did a good job. I showed her mercy by firing her instead of charging her for theft and banning her from ever working as an accountant. Her kids are what softened my heart, but damn, why do I feel so bad?

"As you guys can see, Miss.Green is not present. She has been fired with immediate effect, I will not go into detail about the reason but what I'm going to say to each and every one of you is- should I find you trying to double cross me and think you'd get away with it, you're gonna face fire. I expect you all to learn and understand the new work rules and ethics, I expect you all to treat each other with respect, no smoking in the resturant...I've seen ashes of smoke under the counter and near the pantry. So should you be found smoking, you will be fired. Every relationship of yours should end before you enter through those doors, I don't want to see you guys taking your personal matters into my restaurant. This is my baby, and I expect you to respect this very restaurant that feeds you, your family, and your children. Understood?" I asked, holding my arms on my chest.

The employees looked taken aback, but I guess they didn't expect me to come with fire, but honestly, I'm pissed. This is a new restaurant and already it's been treated so bad, the reviews are not looking great, the kitchen is not hygienic and the workers don't take customer service seriously.

I fired a lot of people today, including the manager who looked after the restaurant when Megan wasn't in...aka EVERYDAY. Every single freaking day, Megan never stepped in to see how things are going.

Yes, she has a family, but that doesn't excuse her negligence. Oh gosh, thank God i trained my ex employees better because Megan is clearly useless.

Sorry. Not sorry,

"Meeting adjourned," I said louder than expected, which made the employees scramble away.

We closed early due to lack of staff and will be closed for two weeks because I want to revamp this place as Megan didn't do a good job, despite this resturant giving a homey vintage feel, it wasn't hygienic and needs serious deep cleaning and replacing of all dishes and cooking utensils.

I'm gonna have a re-opening event after those two weeks. To show people that there's a new sheriff in town.

"Audrey?" I heard my name being called out as I approached my car. The voice sounded so familiar, but I couldn't put my finger on who called me.

Upon turning, I come face to face with HER.
