"Mum! Mum, look what Molly made me for my birthday!"
Jovie grinned at the sight of the hand knit sweater, the blonde having received several like it back when she was at hogwarts. "That's a very nice sweater Cas, make sure to take care of it."
The little Casanova dances around with her sweater, "I will!"
Jovie continued unpacking, dusting off the old furniture as she set up where they would be living for the foreseeable future. She was supposed to be going to the grandhall in a few minutes for a staff welcome back party.
"Casanova Black!" she shouted, the little girl having vanished from sight.
She found her under the table, a newspaper in hand. She slowly looked up at her mother, eyes wide with curiosity, "did you see this? The escaped prisoner from Azkaban, his name's Black like our's."
Jovie pursed her lips.
She never tried to hide who her father was from the girl, she wanted her daughter to know what an amazing person and wizard he was. Casanova grew up seeing pictures of her parents and they're friends together, it's a wonder she never connected the dots.
"Cas, honey, we've been over this," Jovie took the newspaper, "there's somethings you're too young to know about your dad, but know this, whatever people say, your dad doesn't deserve what he got, you have nothing to be afraid of."
Cassie slowly nods, her smile coming back, "yeah! Dad probably broke out just to come see us!"
Jovie smiled.
At the beginning of her time at Hogwarts, Cassie had a bit of a rough time. People found out who her father was and distanced themselves, naturally. Luckily Cassie inherited her father's wit and charm and by the end of her first year she was one of the most popular kids in her year.
"There's my little star," Remus entered the room, scooping Cassie from under the table, "shouldn't you be in your room unpacking?"
"You're right!" she squirmed out of Remus' arms, "bye Uncle Remmy! Bye mom!"
Jovie watched as her daughter ran away, the faint trace of a smile on her lips. She looked back down to the newspaper in her hands, briefly scanning the words on the page.
Remus peered over her shoulder, "with any luck, the two of you should be reunited soon."
Jovie shook her head, "wouldn't hold my breath."
She set down the newspaper, "let's go, we're gonna be late."

"Jovina Scamander! Who would've thought?"
Jovie grinned, "Minnie!"
The two women hugged, McGonagall pulling away after a moment to look Jovie up and down, "you've grown so much. It's been a pleasure having your daughter in my house."
Remus made his way over to them, "Minnie! Remember me?"
"How could I forget, my star pupil," McGonagall smiled, "hello Remus."
They talked for a few minutes before McGonagall left to entertain other faculty, leaving the pair to wander around the room.
"Never thought I'd see your faces again."
Jovie turned, finding Snape approaching them, a deep scowl on his face. Ironic he's the one frowning when he was the first person to be hated by "Sunshine Jo".
One of two people, the second of which she can't bear to name.
"Severus," Jovie looked at him, "...it's a pleasure."
"I'd say the same," Snape hisses, "but it's not."
Remus grins, "I was so surprised when I received the letter being asked to be DADA professor. I thought they'd surely at least have considered you by now."
"It seems Black is still here in some ways."
"Well," Jovie let her smile drop, "I thought I could try to entertain this but it seems I was wrong. Stay away from me Snape."
She walked away, Remus following.

"Sirius? Where are you going?"
"We figured it out," Sirius paced the room, grabbing things, his coat, his wand, "I didn't want to believe it, it was right in front of our face."
"What're you talking about Siri-"
"Peter. Jovie it was Peter. That's how Voldemort knew where to find them and that's why he was nowhere to be found when we were supposed to be having dinner."
Jovie rubbed her eyes, still half asleep, "what're you talking-"
"He's been working for him for years! And we never knew! In highschool he helped Narcissa and Lucius capture you, he was working with Snape, it all makes sense!"
"Sirius," Jovie shook her head, "listen to yourself, we're talking about little Petey who used to follow you guys everywhere. He used to get scared of Blue! He's not capable-"
"It was an act! It was a lie!"
"Sirius! Even- even if it was, he could never do that to James-"
"But he did Jo! He did it to James and Lily and he took them from us and he took them from Harry! He took my best friend from me!"
"Listen to me-"
"No! He can't get away with it!"
"Sirius- wait!"
The door slammed.
