Cian's POV after he drops Quinn off from (first date)

I rush home in time to see Quinn and Rory's interaction. Luckily, I have rented out an apartment just across town from Quinn's for my duration here. I burst into my apartment and opened my laptop. Just in time, I think. I don't want to admit it, but I'm burning with anticipation, waiting to hear what Quinn says. A devious smile spreads across my face as she reluctantly accepts we have a connection to Rory. She tries to fight it still, but I am done denying it. I want Quinn and I have since that day in the bar. I lie in bed thinking about her and fall asleep soundly for the first time in ages.

The sound of my phone screeching in my ear wakes me up. "Cian," I answer automatically, ignoring my sleepy tone.

"Not up yet, eh boss?" Kieran laughs.

"I am up now," I say coldly. "Give me an update," I grumble.

"The guys are packing up the essentials from the Dublin estate on your orders. I have hired a team of highly vetted contractors for your new property. The property in Galway you wanted to acquire is going into the final stages of the deal. I have to say you spent a pretty penny on that place. What makes it so special?" Kieran asks.

"Kieran, "I say seriously. "This stays between you and me for now."
"Of course, boss," Kieran replies.

"It is going to be our base. We are leaving Dublin and will use that as a secondary residence."

There is a long pause on the other end of the phone. "What, why would we do that?" Kieran asks questioningly. His question annoys me as he has no clue what I am planning. I don't have to explain anything to him, but he is extremely loyal, and I'm itching to let someone else in on my plan. However, it is not time to tell Kieran everything yet. So I tell him I am going to make it into a fortress. I explained to him how the back of the property is lined up to a cliff that no man could climb from a seaward attack and how we can build walls and add optimal security to make it impregnable.

No one will be able to take my princess away from me.

"Okay, I understand the allure, but why not beef up security at the Dublin residence?" Kieran asks curiously. Fuck he is wise, isn't he? I think quietly, trying to figure out an answer to tell him. He is waiting for a response, so I mutter, "It has to do with the procurement mission I'm on right now."

"I see," Kieran tells me.

Kieran thinks that over, and I know what he will ask. Not that I owe him an answer, but as my second in command, he needs to know it will be a person for safety reasons. "I will fill you in on everything soon, but I am procuring a person to return to our compound. One that must be guarded at all costs." I admit.

"Okay, I will start putting all the security protocols in place at the new residence once we close on Friday," Kieran says. "I have also hired landscapers, interior designers, and the sustainable architect you requested to begin next week. The contractors have assured me they will have all of your changes done within the year. It will take time to build the requested guard's barracks, but they will get it done." "

"Great, tell them to throw all their manpower at this project, and I will give them a handsome bonus."

"Okay, I will mention that," Kieran says. "When will you be coming back, boss?" He adds.

"I am not sure if I will be. Once we move into my new estate, I want you and the inner circle to come here. As the guards' barracks are built, more men can come."

"Okay, Cian, I will finish everything on my end." He confirms.

"I know you will. " I say and hang up.
