"We made a deal, Jessica!" Her father hissed at her. Once again, she is stubborn, Jessica rolled her eyes while a maid braided her hair. "I know. I just don't understand why I need to literally dress up like a medieval noblewoman!" The teen retorted. Jessica wasn't too fond of thick velvet fabric, especially not when it is hot out and she was about to meet people who probably have the dull personality like her father or a crass one like her mother.

"Ow!" The redhead flinched, feeling the bobby pin almost dig in her scalp.

"Sorry, Miss." The maid apologizes and continues to gently put accessories and pins in the girl's hair. "Beauty is pain. You can't take it, that's why you look like a whore from the side of the streets at night." Her mother's bitchy remarks were accompanied by a drunken laugh-midday and she's already down on the bottle.

The teen scoffed, "I've met prostitutes nicer than a priest, meanwhile you with the attitude of a brick shit-house can't even be nice to her own daughter."

Her mother's face made Jessica laugh as she saw it contort in an enraged state,

"Don't start with me you little bitch."

"You're here complaining how I look when I was just sitting peacefully getting my hair done." Jessica replied in a sing-song tone.

Before her mother could even speak, her father pushed her mother out the hall and they started to argue as Jessica could care less about the situation and whistled while looking at her nails which were painted to compliment her dress. She wore a powder blue dress with a square neckline and shoulder puffs that clashed with her auburn hair. Her gold collar necklace and earrings are the only ones that probably complimented her features.

"Must be hard to always hear them fight all the time." The maid tried to comfort the teen as she finished with her hair. "You must be new." Jessica chuckled, "This whole thing may be a shit show ready to happen, but at least I look fucking decent for once compared to her half ass attempt to look good."

The maid was caught off-guard with her words and stuttered a reply, "I'm... sorry, Miss."

"It's alright, you were just trying to console me." Jessica smiled at the maid before she stood to look at herself completely. She smiled after seeing how great she looked, facing the maid, "Thank you so much for helping me."

The maid collected herself before she nodded then left the room.

Jessica exits her own room before inserting something in her dress pocket. Whilst she walked through the halls of their manor, her stomach twisted, feeling a sense of trouble brewing as she walked to the main hall where guests had gathered.

Wishing Seline were there, Jessica kept her hands to herself, displayed in front of her body. She bit her lip in anxiety whilst she watched her parents deal with the guests as it was her father's birthday; it was the perfect excuse for her to socialize.

Her father spots her within the crowd and announces, "Ah everyone, my daughter's here!" He says with the fakest smile she's seen him plaster on his face while he hugged her mother with one arm on his side. She scoffed but played it off with a smile, 'Could they get any more fake.' She thought as she strides to her parents.

Her father offered a hand to her and she took it as she went up the podium, "My pride and joy, Jessica. Do not be shy to befriend her, she's nice. Doesn't bite." A double entendre joke from her dad whilst he looked at her with a smile and piercing eyes. Jessica kept her smile and just nodded before being let go.

Jessica listened to her father recite his speech about being thankful for a new chance of life in his new age and how he is excited to do more work. He also thanks his wife and Jessica for always being there for him. Jessica covers her mouth and looks down to stifle her laugh. Although it was amusing to her for her father to say these things, she was partially annoyed with everything.
