"Islam is Perfect, Muslims Aren't".
I've come to realise that Wattpad is not the place for the one who:
- wishes to understand his religion,
- is striving to become a better Muslim,
- wants to have better understanding of Islamic laws.
Do you know what Wattpad Muslim thinks of such person? That he is pious, perfect Muslim and extreme. And they, Wattpad Muslims, write real stories that highlight perfect imperfection of their Muslim characters.
Really?
Having your character commit Haram throughout the book without writing the feeling of regret within them nor making them repent from their actions later on, you call it imperfection?
This is open disobedience and disrespect of Islam.
1. No Muslim is perfect or Pious.
2. A striver in the path of Islam is not called 'pious'.
3. Abiding by conditions of Islam does not lable you as 'pious'.
4. Writing a complete Islamic story by keeping major conditions of Islam in mind is not a 'perfect story'.
5. Having your characters attend Islamic lectures, covering themselves properly (female leads), keeping distance from stranger men and not talking unless very necessary - It does NOT indicate that they are perfect.
Being perfect and striving to become better Muslim are two whole different things.
So, if you find any such story then do not criticise it saying it is too perfect to be real. To some it may seem so because they might be living in different environment where people follow their whims and desires. Like, some western Muslims.
Just like there are types of Muslim books on Wattpad, as mentioned in the Intro of this book. There are types of authors.
Let's see:
1. A Two Faced Writer:
This particular author, she writes an Islamic story in one place and the reader is like 'this is the Book I was looking for my Halal Library'. Then, the reader browse through her books only to find a complete opposite book. Where the first book had a Niqabi, the second book had blouse&pants headscarf girl. In the first book, female lead maintained her distance from men and in the second book female lead had absolutely no problem when the male lead touched her. This is hypocrisy of some Muslim writers. May Allah protect us.
2. An Ignorant Writer:
There are some Muslim books where you will definitely loose your mind and you'd want to rip apart that book. A Muslim book just by name. No Hijab, no mention of prayers and no trace of 'Islam' or 'Muslim' whatsoever.Sadly, I think these type of writers were never exposed to a real Islamic environment. Hence, they write about what they see around themselves. If they do not know what does proper Hijab even mean, how can anyone expect from them to write about one?
Due to lack of knowledge of Islam, they end up with such Muslim yet non-Muslim books. Furthermore, they become aggressive when being advised and this is all because of lack of knowledge.
What a dangerous thing ignorance is. May Allah grant us beneficial knowledge.
May Allah guide them to the Right Path.
3. Islamic Writers:
Your all-time favourite authors. May Allah bless them. In a world of desires and fantasy, these are the writers who do not give up Islam and commands of Allah no matter what and abide by conditions of Islam to the best of their ability. However, under this category there is one more type - my favourite.
4. Islamic Writers with Purpose to Remind & Benefit:
Being around students of Islamic Knowledge, these writers have indeed known the true meaning of conveying the knowledge of Islam that they learned. They have known the Four Principles when it comes to sincerity in Knowledge. The first principle is to remove ignorance from oneself and the second to remove ignorance from the creation.
Thus, wherever they are their purpose is to convey the message of their Lord. They stay away from that which does not concern them nor will be of any benefit, I.e. writing only for entertainment or writing a plot that has no basis...it is just that: Baseless and waste of time.
In everything, they see the benefit of Hereafter,
In every action, they remember the Reckoning,
In every word, they remember the Records.
May Allah make us among the Righteous.
