Assalamu 'Alaykum.
I watched a video where our teacher was speaking about how everything will testify against ourselves on the Day of Judgement. He then recited verses of the Qur'an:
وَقَالُوا۟ لِجُلُودِهِمْ لِمَ شَهِدتُّمْ عَلَيْنَاۖ قَالُوٓا۟ أَنطَقَنَا ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِىٓ أَنطَقَ كُلَّ شَىْءٍ وَهُوَ خَلَقَكُمْ أَوَّلَ مَرَّةٍ وَإِلَيْهِ تُرْجَعُونَ.
And they will say to their skins, "Why have you testified against us?" They will say, "We were made to speak by Allāh, who has made everything speak; and He created you the first time, and to Him you are returned. [Fussilat 41:21]
"That Day, it will report its news" [Az-Zalzalah 99:4]
In a Hadith, Prophet ﷺ said: "Verily, its information is that it will testify against every male and female servant, about what they did upon its surface. It will say that he did such and such on such and such day. So this is its information."
There's a saying that everything will be a proof for you or against you.
So take heed authors and readers, your book could testify for you if it is:
• Sound.
• In line with Islamic laws.
• Content must not be against Islam.
• Should not contain false information or falsely representing Islam by writing anything the author desires.
There are many more features that a person with sound heart and understanding would grasp it, Bi'ithnillah.
On the other hand, your book could testify against you if it has anything that goes against Islam. Because know, speaking about Allah, His Messenger and Islam without knowledge is a grave sin. On top of that, spreading false information about Islam is the worst.
The matter is not lightly as some so called authors deem it to be, your writing hand will be a proof for you or against you and everything is being recorded.
May Allah rectify affairs of the Ummah of Muhammad ﷺ.
