The zombie charges him again and Tofu launches himself into the air. He uses iron tail and hits the zombie right in the side. It goes flying into a tree. Tofu uses quick attack on the zombie. It bites his front legs and he flinches in pain. The zombie almost scratches him, but Tofu barely dodges it. The zombie unlodges itself from the tree and tries to scratch him again. He ducks and headbutts the zombie into the air.
Tofu's front legs hurt a lot. The zombie got a pretty good hit on him. Luckily, the infection going around only spreads to you if the zombie makes you faint. If that wasn't the case, Tofu would've been dead months ago. Well, undead that is. The zombie hits the ground with a thud and Tofu iron tails it one more time and shatters the zombie's back. Tofu grimaces at the crunching noise of the zombie's bones breaking.
The zombie still lashes at Tofu, desperately trying to kill him. He just backs away in response. 'It's scary how dead set these monsters are on killing you,' he thinks, starting the long walk to his building. The forest seems endless as he walks for half an hour. Soon the trees clear and the city surrounds Tofu once more. He wanders through the city, searching for the place he calls his home.
His legs ache once he finds the building. After everything that had happened today, Tofu was ready for a nap. But it wasn't close enough to night for him to convince himself to sleep. So he walks up to his room and goes to his trusty notebook. Grabbing the writing utensil with his teeth, he cleanly scribbles out 'Restore power to the building'. He hadn't actually checked if it worked, but he hoped that it did. He flicks a light switch.
The lightbulb flickers on and he can't help but smile. Tofu turns it off immediately after and goes over to the room next door. It still has a fridge inside it and he gets it on his back. His legs hurt a lot more, but he gets to his room soon enough and cautiously places the fridge next to his desk. Plugging it in makes all the work worth it though. He opens it and enjoys the cold air leaking out of the refrigerator.
Placing all of his berries in the fridge, Tofu hears a weird noise coming from outside the building. He looks out the window just to see a survivor. A Pikachu is walking around, looking for something. 'Should I help them? Survivors can be very dangerous,' Tofu debates in his head. He slowly settles on helping the survivor and climbs down the stairs. He walks outside and finds the survivor, making them jump.
The Pikachu prepares to fight, thinking Tofu is infected. He sits down, trying to communicate that he isn't. The survivor stares at him for a while, slowly figuring out why this creature is acting like this. "Are you also a survivor?" His deep voice makes Tofu's mind feel something he hasn't felt in forever. 'Arceus above, please don't already be falling in love with this guy,' he thinks.
Tofu nods and the survivor sighs in relief. "Thank goodness. Why didn't you just tell me?" Tofu stops for a second, quickly trying to come up with a way to tell the Pikachu why he couldn't just say he's not infected. He opens his mouth and closes it, and somehow it gets his point across. "Ohh, are you mute?" He asks and Tofu nods. "Well, do you wanna explore this city with me?" He steps closer to Tofu and he smiles and stands up.
"I'm just gonna take that as a yes." The Pikachu walks up to Tofu. "My name's Gazz by the way." They both start wandering around. Although there was literally nothing new to the city now, Tofu couldn't help but explore with Gazz. He wanted to think it's just because he's naturally curious but it's mostly because he likes this Pikachu.
They look around for a while, until the sun had almost set. "It's getting pretty dark out, let's set up camp here." Gazz sits down. 'I should show him my house,' Tofu thinks. He walks over to Gazz and uses his fluffy tail to push him a little. "What?" He asks and Tofu walks a few steps. "Do you want me to follow you?" He guesses and Tofu nods. They both make it back to the building and walk up to the fifth floor.
Gazz gasps in surprise and Tofu smiles, proud of himself. "Is this where you live?" The Pikachu stares at the room. He nods and walks over to his desk. Grabbing a smaller notebook, he writes. "I've stayed here for about nine months. My name is Tofu by the way." Gazz reads the note. "It is a really nice place Tofu." He compliments. Tofu smiles and walks over to his bed. Gazz walks over and looks at him.
"Is this yours?" He asks and Tofu shakes his head. He sits down on the floor. "Oh, thanks." Gazz says and lays down on the bed. Tofu lies down on the hardwood floor. He's done this before surprisingly, sometimes he got bored of the bed. Tofu settles and goes to sleep. He doesn't dream about anything, just an empty void. He wakes up a few hours later. Dreaming was one of the few things Tofu couldn't do somehow. It just never really worked.
Gazz is still asleep, quietly snoring under the boarded up window above the bed. 'How hasn't he woken up yet?' Tofu thinks. He walks over to his desk and flips open the notebook. Crossing off restoring power, he looks towards the next thing to do. Move Garden to roof, Tofu reads. He closes the notebook, waters the small potted plant, and walks towards the other side of the room. Walking past Gazz, he considers waking him up, but decides not to.
Tofu walks into the room he's allotted for the garden and just admires his work for a second. Moving the dirt up wasn't that difficult of a task, but still took forever. He focuses back on the task at hand and harvests the few berries that have grown. Most are still too small to pick, but some are fully grown. Quickly placing them in the fridge, Tofu sits down for a second to think of how he's going to move these plants to the roof.
