I recount my threshing story to Liam when he meets me in the healer tent.
"Damn, have you seen any of them make it back here?" He asks
"Nope, though if any one of them don't bond it could be a problem I need to watch out for, especially the blonde. She was very adamant that Lu was hers." I say
I'm not a pet to be owned
Of course not, I say back
"A problem we need to watch out for." He corrects "not like we're weren't already going to but we kinda have to stick to each other now, you know with the whole you die I die thing." He says
"I couldn't imagine a better person to be stuck with for the rest of my life." I say standing and kissing his cheek
"You were never going to be able to get rid of me either way but still" I laugh
We make our way back to our dragons finding Xaden already waiting there with Sygael.
"You guys bonded mated dragons." He glares at us
"What it's not like we had much of a say in the matter" I laugh "its no big deal now we have an excuse to stay with each other after graduation, they couldn't separate us even if they wanted to." I finish smiling at Liam
"I know and I'm proud of you both for bonding with 2 of the strongest dragons in your year..."
Damn right Lu says and I chuckle
"But" he pauses like the words physically rip him apart as they come out " on the off chance I lose one of you, I'll lose both of you." Xaden is a very closed off person so seeing how this concern of his looks like it's physically hurting him to think about sends tears to my eyes.
"You're not going to lose either of us, ever. Seriously you're never getting rid of us" I say hugging him forcing the tears back.
"Ya trust me I've tried" Liam says and I glare, Xaden just laughs
Xaden let's go and blurts out "Violet bonded Tairn"
"Tairn as in...?" Liam questions at the same time I realize
"Oh shit" I say and start to laugh
"Sygael and Tairn are mated" Xaden says responding to Liam's question because I'm laughing so hard I can't breath at this point
"Oh shit" he says
"Ya. So no more threatening her obviously we can't kill her now." He says
"Oh please you've been obsessed with her since parapet Z you were never gonna kill her." I say as Liam helps me up and I wipe away my tears
"That is so not-" Xaden starts but Liam cuts him off
"Ya it is dude" and Xaden just glares
"But we get it no killing" I say still a little bitter about the poison thing
"Good" he says and starts to walk off
"Have fun Z!" I yell and he flips me off
More people start to trickle in I haven't seen the blonde or the boyfriend but the axe dude somehow bonded a brown dagger tail. When the last rider lands were instructed to stand if front of our dragons to get our relic. It feels the exact same to when Melgran's dragon marked us years ago. According to Liam my relic takes up my entire back, it's a top view of Lu with her wings out wide stretching between my shoulder blades with her tail tracing down my spine and curling up when it gets to my lower back.
"It's beautiful" he says as he traces my back, the motion sending shivers down my spine
