It's currently 5 in the morning and I am woken up to someone pounding on my door. Groaning I yell

"I'm SLEEPING!"

"Open the door Chloe!" Xaden yells back and I grumble getting up out of bed wearing one of Liam's t-shirts I stole that's so big on me it covers up my shorts, and my hair in two Dutch braids from yesterday and fling open the door

"Gods Chlo you could've put some pants on!" Xaden swears

"Is that my shirt?" Liam asks cocking his head

I pull up the bottom of my shirt revealing the shorts, "I do have pants on jackass, and yes this is your shirt now what do you want?"

"How do you feel about a squad change?" Xaden says

"What?" I ask confused "why would we need to change squads?"

"To be guard dogs for Sorrengail" Liam replies in a bored tone and Xaden glares, but I let them in to explain further and eventually agree.

"She's going to hate this you know" I say

"I don't care, as long as it keeps her alive." He responds

We stand in formation the next morning waiting for shit to hit the fan. Since our squad was so little anyway we were already going to get rearranged, now we just know where we're going.

"Aetos, Vaughn Penly, and Clara Newhaven will be leaving your command and you will be gaining Chloe Kane and Liam Mairi from Tail section." Xaden says. Me and Liam move in to position behind a very angry Violet.

"I do not need body guards" she snaps

And I snicker mouthing an "I told you so" to Xaden but he ignores me and Violet and turns to Dain.

"Liam and Chloe are statistically the strongest first-years in the quadrant. They tied for fastest time up the gauntlet, neither have lost a single challenge, and have bonded two of the strongest dragons in their year, who also happen to be mated. Any squad is lucky to have one of them and you have both, you can thank me in the spring when you win the squad battle." Xaden finishes and I smile a bit listening to Xaden sing my praise to the whole quadrant.

"I. Do. Not. Need. Bodyguards." Violets grumbles louder and I snort from behind her

"Good luck with that approach" I say

Xaden starts his speech about the whole situation last night and I only tune in when I hear one of my newly appointed squad mates say

"Both Tyrs how convenient." She grumbles and I roll my eyes, more than used to comments like that so I don't react beyond that and keep my eyes forward. What surprises me though is the death glare Violet levels at her. Xaden then calls Amber Mavis to answer to her crimes and amongst the outrage Ridoc I think his name is turns to Nadine as well and says

"She's a Tyr too Nadine, or are you only biased against marked ones?" He says cocking his head and I smirk. That was the moment I knew I would like my new squad.

About a week passes me and Liam getting up at the ass crack of dawn to shadow Violet who absolutely does not want to be shadowed and actually getting to know our squad. It's nice and I really like a lot of them Ridoc is absolutely hilarious and I learned he was obsessed with me for a while but got over it and I'm am glad to say we are pretty good friends. Rhi is amazing and as loyal as can be, I know I would be able to trust her with anything, same with Sawyer and I'm glad to say none of them treat Liam or I any different because of our mark except Nadine but whatever. I'm currently on Liam's back while we walk with Violet to the library for our morning duty.
