Felix pov

Hyunjin took us to the bridge, where our paths diverged. The haunting images of black blood, a relentless companion throughout the day, persisted in my thoughts. Adeline and Ryujin's words only stoked the flames of my curiosity.

"Adeline, go ahead. I'll be right behind," I said, and she nodded, disappearing into the night.

Hyunjin, with a mischievous grin on his face, asked, "Do you want a goodnight kiss or something?"

"I have a more pressing matter," I countered, rolling my eyes, and his expression shifted to one of attentiveness.

"It's about your brother's blood," I said, and a sigh escaped him.

"I told you to drop it," he began.

"Shut up and listen," I interjected, annoyance evident in my tone. "Ryujin witnessed your sister engaging in some blood ritual at the church and saw that she has black blood just like Niki. But that's not all... confronting the dragon clan queen, Adeline saw that she had a child with the same blood as your siblings with her. And now they're asking me questions about the wholeblood thing."

"Wait, hold on. Are you saying the dragon clan queen has someone with night blood on her side?" he exclaimed, dread emanating from his gaze. My confusion mirrored in a frown.

"Night blood? Is that the term you use?"

"Yes, but Felix, focus. This is not the time. Are you certain about Adeline seeing a night-blooded girl?" he urgently pressed.

"Yeah, she said there was a little girl with black blood and exceptional combat skills with her. Wh?" I inquired, prompting a muttered oath from him.

"I must return immediately," he said alarmed.

"Wait, Hyunjin, what's the matter?" I said, but he was already running back, the gravity of the situation propelling him forward.

I stood there even more confused than before.

Hyunjin pov

I sprinted back to the Residence and burst into Yeji's room, flinging the door open without bothering to knock.

"Yej," I called, but the room echoed in silence.

"Yeji!" I shouted again, and a muffled noise emanated from the bathroom.

"What?" she snapped.

"We need to talk right now," I urged, slamming the door behind me.

Emerging from the bathroom with wet hair, she scowled,

"This better be important; I was enjoying a calming bath." she said, trying the strings of her neight robe.

"She has a night-blooded child with her," I revealed, watching confusion cross her face.

"Who?" she demanded.

"Akira," I disclosed, and her frown deepened.

"What?"

"Adeline, the woman you saved today, told Felix she had seen a little girl with nightblood together with Akira."

The twist of terror and anger contorted her expression.

"This can't be," she muttered, sinking onto a chair with a blank stare.

"Maybe her threats aren't just empty words after all," I suggested.

She took a deep breath,

"Get ready; we're heading to the Dragon Clan."

"W-what? Now?" I stammered.
