Hey, everyone. How's it going? In my case, not so great. Not surprising, I know. Things in Brooklyn House rarely go well.
After I had informed Sadie about my nerve-wracking dream, I tried to calm myself by talking to Zia. She always seemed to know how to soothe my fear, and I figured that I should tell her about our situation before lunch anyway. I went up to her room and found her sitting cross-legged on her beige-colored bed, reading a book.
"Zia? Uh... I kinda have something I need to tell you," I said, a little nervous. Then again, I was pretty much always nervous, especially around Zia.
She glanced up from her book and smiled at me. "Hey, Carter."
That smile of hers always melted my heart. I don't understand how one girl can be so beautiful.
I grinned back at her, my nerves eased a bit. Even though we had been officially dating for a year now, I couldn't help but think that one day she would randomly find a hot guy and dump me for him. Stupid, I know. I can't help it.
And with that, I started to explain the long tale of everything that had happened in the past 2 days, as well as a little background information about me and Sadie's meeting with Percy and Annabeth.
Zia didn't even look that surprised.
"It makes sense, really, if you think about it. I mean, what would be stopping the Greek or Norse gods from existing? It would only be logical to assume they are also present, just not in our little corner of the world."
I was astonished that she was taking this so well. It had taken a couple of days for me to process it. I guess that just proves how much cooler she was than me [Shut up, Sadie! I am cooler than plenty of other people. You want me to name one? Fine! Uh... That one kid at your school that annoys you. What's her name, Drew? Yeah, I'm way cooler than her].
"You're taking this a bit better than I expected," I said, gaping at her.
Her eyes glinted with humor. "Let me guess: when you found out, you holed yourself in your room and had an existential crisis."
"No! It was more like three existential crises."
She laughed. "That's what I thought. But seriously, this is not a good situation at all. You're gonna tell the others about this, right?"
"Yeah. I was planning to do it at lunch, unless you have some serious objection or something."
"No. That's a great idea. I just think that we have to tread carefully. We're in new territory here," she replied.
"Agreed. Sadie keeps telling me not to worry."
"It would do you some good. You do it every single time something comes up. I don't normally agree with Sadie, but she's right. You just need to chill out a little. We're not getting anything done with you having an internal debate with yourself in the corner."
I groaned. "You sound like my sister."
"Like I said, not a bad thing in this scenario."
"Hmph," I grunted.
Zia patted her bed, motioning for me to come sit with her. I obliged, and walked over to her, happy that we could spend a little quality time together.

Zia and I walked down to the terrace, where the dining room table was already set up. Philip of Macedonia, our crocodile (You would think we would name him after an Egyptian pharaoh. Nope. I guess it's something we can bond over with the Greeks) was swimming in the pool, like he normally did. One of the younger kids was actually on top of him, riding on him like a horse. The kid was laughing hysterically. I knew that Philip wouldn't be too rough on him, and definitely wouldn't allow him to drown.
