I pulled out my cell phone and checked my contacts. I didn't normally call many people, since it's dangerous for half-bloods to own phones. I really only used it for emergencies, and had it turned off the rest of the time. Near the top, I saw Magnus and clicked on the film camera icon to FaceTime him. I made sure that I had my volume turned all the way up so Percy could hear and have his own input, and let it ring. It took around 3 or 4 chimes, but Magnus finally picked up.

"Annabeth! Hey! I needed to talk to you anyway. What's up?"

"Not much. Listen, I need to talk to you too. It's pretty important."

"Mine is too. You go first."

"Percy, you explain it. You're better at telling stories than me."

"Percy's here? Hey dude!"

"Sup, Magnus!" Percy said. "Heard you beat Loki in the flighting. Congrats!"

"Can we focus? I didn't just call him so you guys can have a bromance moment!" I exclaimed, getting a little exasperated.

"Jeez, so pushy. Okay..." Percy went on to explain what happened to him in the alley, and went into a little more detail about what the ghoul looked like.

"Okay, but isn't that not exactly out of the ordinary for demigods to be attacked by a monster? What does this have to do with me?" Magnus said, a bit confused

"That's the thing," I said, cutting in for Percy. "This wasn't just any old monster. It wasn't Greek. I'm assuming it was Norse, and was hoping you would know why it was in New York and what it is."

Magnus' face drained of color. "If you're right, and this wasn't a Greek zombie..." He blanched. "I think I know what it was. A draugr. Me and the gang ran into a bunch of them a while ago while we were retrieving the Skofnung sword. But... these things always just hang out in their tombs, guarding treasure. This definitely wasn't an accident. Someone sent this after you."

I had already suspected that it wasn't an accident, since I've never been attacked by anything other than Greek monsters, unless they were sent after us. This just confirmed my hunch, much to my dismay.

"This is not good. At all," I said, sighing.

"I know. I doubt anything good can come from this. I don't have any idea why it was in New York or why it ambushed you. We can figure out this mess later. But, now that I've helped you with that; me, Blitz, and Hearthstone have a similar problem. Hopefully, this might shed some light on whatever the heck is going on right now. Wait here for a second, I'll go get Blitz from the other room to explain it."

I was worried that Magnus had an alike issue, since that meant that whatever was going on must be bigger than we thought. Nevertheless, I let Blitzen describe whatever happened to him and Hearth.

<<<<..........>>>>

"A snake headed cheetah? That's new. And weird. Even for me," Percy said, after Blitz told us about the attack.

"Leopard," Blitzen corrected.

"Whatever. Close enough. How do you even know the difference between the two?"

"I'm gonna be honest, Magnus," I said, ignoring Percy. "I have no clue what that is. I've never heard any Greek or Roman myths about this thing."

Suddenly, a lightbulb went off in my head. I turned to Percy.

"Carter and Sadie," we both said unanimously.

"Uh... who?" Magnus asked, confused.

"Right. Okay... this is gonna be tough to explain. You know how you're a Norse demigod, and me and Annabeth are Greek, and some of our friends are Roman?" Magnus nodded. "Well, Carter and Sadie Kane aren't demigods at all. They're Egyptian magicians that live in Brooklyn. We swore not to tell anyone about them because we understood that mixing mythologies would be very, very dangerous. But, it looks like it's happening against our will," Percy explained. "Like it always seems to do."
