Everett is still next to me, when I wake up. I am no long held by his arm, or laying on his chest. As far as I can tell, Everett is sound asleep. I look at he clock, which reads 12:47 a.m. It's midnight. I look at Everett. I look at the door. I walk down stairs, quietly. Everyone else is still asleep. I assume Brit is in the second twin bed. There is no one down stairs, but a small la,p was left on.
I walk over to the couch and sit down. The book is still on the table. I pick it up. I open the cover and flip through the pages, until I reach page the page with the stone. Page 586. I read over the page, thinking that I might have missed something. But, no. I flip the page. The back is blank. It's the only page with a blank back.
I hold the page to the light, mans I can see a slight bit of writing. It takes me a few minutes to read down the half page. But it's worth it, because it tells me where to go. The dark caves. Luckily for me, I know where that is. I grab a pad of paper, from Allison's desk, and write a note, telling them that I am fine, and that I'll be okay. But, I don't tell them where I am going, or why.
I grab a small bag, and fill it with water and snacks. I have a log. Journey ahead of me, and this time, I am going alone.
I trudge my way out of the house, and into the night air. It is warmer than this morning. I am leaving, just like I did earlier, but this time, I have a purpose, a goal. And, I plan on achieving it.
When I make it to the train station, I have to sneak in, because I don't have any money. When I make it to a seat, the train starts moving. I guess I have perfect timing.
I watch as all the trees swoosh by the train so fast I can barely see each one. I look at the birds flying in the sky, and the clouds that the birds will meet. I watch as the grass flows with the wind, and how everything seems to go together. But, I don't fit.
But, I will. I want to fit. I want to be part of this earth.
