The sun had begun to set, illuminating a dim light over the trees, "If you stay here I will get some water." Rihanna's voice was soft as she retrieved onto her feet.

The younger girl nodded softly, as she leaned her back up against a boulder, smearing the burn cream that Rihanna had gotten gifted over one of her cuts.

Filling up one of her self-made knot buckets with water she drained from a tree, with the help of the spile she had received from a sponsor, she couldn't help but also splash water in her face. She hoped the fresh sap water, would calm her nerves down—those that kept on swelling every time even a minor inconvenience was encountered.

"Here you go." She handed Asha the bowl of water. The District Twelve tribute was quick to slurp down half of it. Rihanna chuckled softly as she slumped down beside her.

"Thank you, Rihanna." She smiled sincerely, Ashas dimples on her tanned cheeks flashing.

The two of them sat comfortably in silence, as the afternoon turned darker. Both of them were extremely exhausted. Rihanna was on for the night shift once again, but Asha felt bad for the older girl. She had done so much for her, and Rihanna had gotten too worn out for Asha not to notice her fatigue.

"Do you have any siblings?" The twelve-year-old girl questioned the fifteen-year-old.

"I have a little sister, she's also twelve. She was reaped. That's why I volunteered..." Rihanna sighed at the thought of her sister. She was glad that it wasn't her who got to experience this horrific place. She wouldn't have made it past the bloodbath.

"You remind me of my older sister," Asha smiled at the girl, "She's brave, kind and beautiful. Just like you."

"We are going to get out of here, you and I." Rihanna tried to reassure—mostly her own uneasiness. Her smile faded as she realized the sad reality. Either she would go home to Isla, or Asha would go home to her sister. Or in another case, none of them would go home. Which was the most likely outcome.

"I see so much of my little sister in you, it's unbelievable." She skipped past the topic as soon as the words had escaped her mouth. It was foolish of her to bring it up.

Suddenly a loud crunch of branches was heard not too far away from the two. Rihanna shot up in an instant, all her senses operating.

"I'm gonna check on it. You stay here!" She whispered the command, as she steadily crept off into the distance.

Rihanna checked everywhere she could, a knife tight in her hand, but no other tribute was to be seen. She was retreating to their camp calmly, but she sped in her tracks as a painful scream littered through the air. Asha's scream.

"NO!" Rihanna raged, as the sight of a District Eight tribute, aggressively stabbing the girl multiple times in the chest, flashed before her eyes.
