As a blind woman, my number one struggle was, until now, internal ableism. Internal ableism is the need to discriminate against yourself or other people within the disabled comunity because of their disability. However, I never discriminated against others. It was really just against myself. Only recently did I finally accept the full package that comes with having Optic Nerve Hypoplasia and it was all thanks to one of my favorite blind youtubers, Molly Burke. Everything that I have always thought about and struggled with, she talks about on her channel. Her comunity is the most relatable and suportive groups ever and I just love that she really expresses her feelings about whatever topic she is discussing. I really hope that one day I will be able to meet her. If you have an opinion about disabilities or internal ableism, feel free to express it. This is a safe space for everyone's POSITIVE coments.
