Chapter 8: Together

Kaia pov:

The plan was set in motion. All the animals are preparing for when Vitani would attack Priderock, while me and Kion prepared for our mission. While Vitani's lions attacked Pride rock the two of us would attack her

"You ready?" Kion said approaching me

"Ready as I'll ever be," I replied. I sounded so nervous though

"Don't worry we can do this, after all we make a great team," he reassured me.

We left Pride rock for Vitani's base. She had caused so much pain, death and suffering all because she wanted revenge. It really is incredible how much the loss of someone you love blinds you into doing things like this. But it's no excuse for the things she has done...Vitani will pay for it

"Are you nervous? You haven't said anything the whole time," Kion snapped me out of my trance. The whole journey so far I haven't said anything

I only nodded

"You can always talk to me if you need anything," he halted us to a stop.

"I don't want to fail," the fear and nervousness was evident in my voice

"We make a great team and we won't fail. Why? Because you have me and I have you, we will always be a team, I promise," he replied. He was always so comforting, really one of the best friends I could ever ask for.

"Thank you, you really are the best Kion," I smiled and gave him a hug

"I am afraid to lose you during this mission," he said. I didn't quite hear what he said properly

"What was that?" I asked

" Nothing, Lets keep going," he replied pulling away from the hug

We eventually made it to Vitani's base. It was hidden inside a cave that was at the base of a mountain, but the entrance was inside a canyon! No wonder it was so hard to find! How in the Pridelands did Nari find this place? Me and Kion were hiding behind a rock, there were lions guarding the entrance.

Kion gave me a nod and we took out the two lions standing guard. We entered the entrance and instead of a cavern there was a large open space with no cave ceiling, it had a small plateau, I guessed that was where Vitani would rally her lions for battle. But one thing stuck out to me; there was no one, there was just me and Kion.

"Well now what do we have here?" Me and Kion immediately looked behind us to see several lions enter and more to our sides. We were ambushed.

"How do you know we would be here?" Kion asked

"That's easy," the lion replied. She put out her right paw and a parrot flew down and landed.

"Nari?" I said. She betrayed us? This is a war after all, people are bound to be traitors, but Nari? She was so kind and was the last person I suspected to be a spy.

"I am sorry," Nari replied looking away

"What is going on at Pride rock?" I didn't want to pay attention to Nari right now, what was more important was the supposed 'attack' that is happening at Pride rock

"Oh that? Well most of our lions are there right now. We were actually only informed a few hours ago," the lion replied. She had this cocky but evil mastermind type voice.

"Where is Vitani?" Kion asked straight to the point. He made it clear that we were only here to stop her and we didn't want to talk.

"Well now don't-"
