"So!" Kel says, bouncing back to a happier tone as he quickly brushes his hand through his hair, which shows off his arm muscles in a beautiful way. "Are you gonna stay here?"
I shrug again. It seems like there's no clear answers to anything anymore. I hate my mom, I hate my dad, I hate Ai, and I hate Nik. But I love Basil, and I love my friends, and I don't quite have those back in California.
But this place is tinged with sorrow and the reminder that my lovely sister, my dead sister, who I killed, is in fact dead. She lived and I killed her, and every minute I spend in this place brings back a rush of memories.
Kel nods. "Yeah. You don't have to make up your mind anytime soon."
I smile at him.
"Wanna like... play basketball or something?" Kel asks, smiling awkwardly in an adorable way.
I glance at Basil, who looks okay with the idea, and frantically nod my head.
"Alright, how about you and Basil versus me? That's not quite fair... since I still have an advantage, but I'm sure you two can at least manage to keep up with me." He suggests.
"Yeah, that sounds okay." Basil says softly.
Kel pulls a basket ball out of seemingly nowhere, and we walk over to the small court in faraway park, and start playing. In seemingly no time, Kel has scored ten points more than us, and all three of us are sweaty.
I take a minute to breathe, and look over the two boys standing next to me.
There's Basil, short, compared to Kel at least, in a thin, but long sleeved shirt, leaning over, trying to catch his breath, his fluffy blond hair all over his face. As he struggles for air, he makes these cute little gasp sounds.
On the other hand, there's Kel, drenched in sweat, but barely breathing heavy at all. The sun shines across his dark moist skin, and he keeps running his fingers through his mulletish long hair.
Holy shit.
