"I am truly sorry, Sooya." Jeongyeon regretfully frowned. "As far as I know, "The Empress has been occupied with matters that are in serious need of care'' is what I have been told. Only selected Generals may meet her at the moment."Not wanting to make the latter feel guilty, Jisoo smiled freely. "Do not fret over such small matters. She is the Empress, after all. If possible, please inform her that I have made a visit and that I will be on the training grounds until midnight."
"Leave it to me!" Lisa grinned beside her. "I will inform her right before I depart."
"Thank you, partially-useful infant." Jisoo sneered and quickly ran before Lisa could make any rebuttal.
"She acts like I am not bigger than her!" Jeongyeon bit back a smile at Lisa's pout.
Meanwhile, Jisoo made sure she was far away before the gleeful smile on her face dropped. Her mind was foggy with suspicions and dilemma. Someone among the court has known about who they are. If what Sunmi heard in the forest was correct, they are all in danger.
She trusts Jennie to have compassion on them, but if the matter reaches the court, it will hurt her lover even if she stood with or against them. People from the fallen kingdom were bad luck. With the superstition that places they enter will also fall, and the current preparations for war, they were in a hard spot and dire need to hide it from being revealed to the people.
Jisoo swung her sword while her soldiers followed her movements. She was far too into her own head to notice the servant who was carelessly running in a rush to get to her destination. Missing by an inch, Jisoo's flick of the sharp blade had caused a basket of flowers to flip, causing her and the girl to be messily adorned with them.
"My Snowdrops! I worked hard to find these. You!" She yelled at Jisoo before she quickly was on her knees, picking up the scattering flowers. The commotion caused the soldiers and their General to freeze in position.
"Snowdrops?" Jisoo asked, assuming that was the name of the flowers.
"Yes! You do not know how much of a miracle it was to find this plant that is only native to Europe." Tears slowly formed in her eyes, and it was a purely heart-clenching sight to see.
"Hey! You have foolishly run into our training field, and you cry because of the consequences of your own actions?!" A soldier yelled. The rest curtly nodded in agreement with him. Jisoo sighed at them before looking back at her.
"P-Please, do not cry." Just as the raven was to also help her pick up the flowers, she was yelled at.
"Stop! Do. Not. Move." Determined puppy eyes looked at her before the girl stood up at the speed of light. The flipped over basket was quickly grabbed by her, and she quickly yet gently invaded Jisoo's personal space.
"What are you..." Her breath hitched once she felt her face slowly closing up the gap between them.
"You have so much on you! We can still save them!" Not too soon, Jisoo felt careful hands pluck away the flowers that had remained stuck onto her and her armour. So, without complaints, the General stood still like an obedient child.
Once done, the girl glared at the General and bowed reluctantly. Before he could walk away, Jisoo grabbed her wrist and turned her around.
"I've never seen you around here." Jisoo eyed her suspiciously. It wasn't uncommon for women to enter as spies. Especially not after a war was just declared.
"Could you let go? My wrists are in pain!" She pleaded, squirming in Jisoo's hold. The General quickly dropped her arm, feeling guilty after seeing her reddened wrists.
