“She was the moon and I was the star

She was the moon and I was the star. Can’t even adore her, she was so far. Day even hid her, giving me pain. Seeing us apart, clouds even rained.”

My voice trailed like a song around me in the darkness of a stormy night.

Dhruv, bhabhi and I sat in the lounge area of the airport, waiting. Mum didn’t let Rishika come with us as she had tests tomorrow.

The flight had been late due to the bad weather. And since then, I have been just praying to God for only one thing.

Please keep my Aridhi safe in every sense of the world.

My heart yearned for that one woman, who didn’t escape my thoughts, my mind, and my prayers ever since our first meet.

“Ruvit.” I glanced at bhabhi when she called out my name. “You sing so well, even if it is just poetry.” She complimented.

As she was sitting beside me, I just gave her a nod, my eyes filled with gratitude.

Singing or poetry is just a hobby, a habit to communicate my inner thoughts and feelings for her.

Only for her.

I learnt all this for a certain someone who has become my muse and is not leaving my head ever since I got to know about her landing.

But God wants me to wait.

Okay fine. I would, happily in fact. As much as it takes, I would patiently wait for her just like I did after school ended.

“But it holds so much pain.” Bhabhi looked at me suddenly, her face glowing with a hint of sadness, mixed with confusion.

“Does it?” I mumbled. It might be because of the flight’s delay and out of Aridhi’s safety. “Because of her.” I replied before I could stop myself, my eyes lost in a daze.

“Who?” I heard her ask with curiosity on which Dhruv supplied immediately. “Aridhi.” He covered his mouth in an instance as if he just made a mistake by speaking her name.

Mistake, not. Her name is as precious as her. And it can’t be a mistake ever. In my words, whoever calls her name feels the divinity of her presence.

Her name is actually so soothing for my soul that I didn’t know I needed, I wanted and I ever craved until it was too late.

“What?” Her eyes almost narrowed, shifting her gaze between me and Dhruv. “Are you guys serious?”

“Uh,” Dhruv hesitated, staring in my direction, silently asking for my permission to continue. So, I gave it. When I nodded, he finally confessed the reason for my existence. “Ruvit loves Aridhi.”

Bhabhi couldn’t say anything. She just stared at me like I did something wrong.

Did I?

Was it a mistake to love Aridhi so much that I couldn’t focus on anyone and anything else other than her?
