After some time, as we arrived at our destination, I got out of the car, moving to open the door on Aridhi’s side.

She looked up at me as I extended my hand, and she gracefully took it, stepping out of the car with a soft touch.

“Are you able to walk?” I asked with concern, tightening my grip on her hand.

She stepped closer. “Yes, I think.” I nodded, but didn’t leave her hand.

We made our way inside the bustling showroom when a commotion suddenly erupted.

A man had snatched a purse from an old woman and was running directly in our direction.

My instinct told me to pull Aridhi by my side.

But before the man could pass and I could do anything, Aridhi acted instantly, grabbing him by his shirt collar with surprising strength.

Abey saale!” She cursed. “Tujhe sharm nahi aati, aise ek bujurg mahila par apni mardangi dikha raha hain?”

(You asshole! Are you not ashamed of yourself, showing your masculinity to an elderly woman?)

She snarled, her voice sharp and filled with a sassy indignation that sent a thrill through me.

She swiftly snatched the purse back from his hand, then delivered a swift, powerful kick to his thigh.

He hissed in pain, collapsing to the ground with a grunt. Everyone circled the place, as if it was a circus.

Someone from the growing crowd immediately called the police.

Just then, an old woman, her face etched with gratitude, walked towards us.

Dhanyawad beta. Bhagwan tum dono ki jodi ko hmesha sahi salamat rakhe.” She blessed us, her eyes shining with warmth.

(Thank you, dear. May God keep you both together forever.)

“No problem.” Aridhi smiled, her earlier fierceness replaced by gentle kindness. “Are you okay?”

“Yes.” She replied, patting Aridhi’s head. Aridhi gave the purse back to the old woman before she walked away.

“You didn’t mind what she said?” I asked, a teasing note in my voice, curious about her reaction.

“Said what?” Aridhi asked back.

Bhagwan tum dono ki jodi ko hmesha sahi salamat rakhe.” I repeated the words the old grandmother blessed us with.

“Wae would I?” She countered, a sensible shrug of her shoulders.

“She’s an elder, and I respect her and her blessings. It’s okay if she misunderstood us as a couple; we can take it as friends. Right?”
