"Okay, stop y'all." The chatter instantly died down as my voice echoed throughout the hall.
I looked at Aridhi who was clearly struggling to wrap her mind around the newfound information. The news of our marriage.
"She needs time to process." That earned Aridhi to look at me, her ocean blue eyes collided with mine.
A hint of uncertainty was there in her eyes. And that was normal as she was shocked. And my heart screamed at me to comfort her.
My hand reached her wrist, gently guiding us towards her room.
"Uh-huh." Others teased in the background. I ignored it before closing the door. I went to lock it but stopped.
Maybe she will be uncomfortable?
I looked at Aridhi, who was standing a few feet away from me, in a daze.
"This isn't a dream, Aridhi." I assured her suddenly but softly, breaking the silence etched in the room.
"Huh?" Her head snapped up, looking at me as if I just read her mind, magically.
Magic? No. I was just too well aware of her emotions and her expressions told me everything. Her thoughts couldn't escape me.
"I know what you are thinking, but believe me.." I began, taking slow, tentative steps in her direction. "I also had no idea about it until this morning."
"What do you mean?" She asked me, curiosity glinting in her orbs.
FLASHBACK
Waking up early as usual, I did my morning routine. And as I made my way towards the bathroom, I heard a loud commotion, coming from the hall's side.
So, I paused, deciding to check it. Without any second thought, I walked in the hallway. And the people who came in front of me left me in a daze.
Everyone was present there which was unusual because I never saw them waking up this early.
To my surprise, Aridhi's parents were also there, sitting in the middle of the sofa, surrounded by my parents.
They were about to come on the Wedding day. Right? When did they change their mind?
I hid myself behind a large pillar, listening intently to their conversation.
If they all were gathered here like a secret mission, without calling Aridhi and me to join them, then it might be something related to us.
"Ritu ji." Aarti aunty, Aridhi's mother, spoke. "As we have already talked about this matter on the call, we shouldn't delay it."
