One year later.

It was weird, trying to go back to living without the fear of being hunted. We tried. Max and Alan being a little more successful than I. We had all enrolled and got into a collage together in Vermont, but after three months I couldn't take it anymore. After traveling, never staying in one place for longer than a few weeks for a year and a half, it was almost physically painful for me to stay still. So I left. I visit them often, about once a month and stay for a few days before heading out again. Most of the time I am out and about, taking random jobs and freelancing for a while before going to the next place.

Right now though, I sit on the Twin's couch, Alan on the other side, bouncing his fleshy leg, while Max is leaning against the kitchenette counter, looking at us.

"So Jacob, Why the visit?" Max asks me, a Russian accent marred her speech. I smile at the sound of her doing her accents again. She hadn't done them for months even after Grim was put into jail.

"I was just in town." I reply, still smiling at Max. Out of the corner of my eyes I see Alan narrow his eyes at me. I blush slightly and avoid his gaze.

"But you visited just last week. This is the first time you've come twice in one month. Did something keep you in town?" Max asks with a wink directed at me. I blush even more and pointedly don't look at Alan, who I know is probably glaring at me.

"Ah, no. um... Did you guys not hear the news?" I say. The room goes quiet. "I thought you guys mightn't've." Alan taps his Prosthetic leg absentmindedly before telling me to spit it out. "Grim was found dead this morning. She hadn't eaten in forever and starved off."

"Oh," Max says, her eyes welling with tears. "It's horrible, but I'm not actually surprised." She sighs.

"Yeah, I don't think she handled being in there while It murdered the others." Alan says sadly. I nod in agreement. We had all visited her, together and alone. Each time though she would just stare at us with blank eyes, rocking back and forth.

Max walks over and sits down heavily in the space between me and Alan. We had all thought about trying to protest her jail sentence, but we never knew what would happen if she did get out. After all, that thing could be lurking around, waiting to possess her again.

"At least she Isn't rotting in Jail anymore." Max says, trying to look on the bright side. I nod in agreement. All of us are finally free.
