"𝐏𝐚𝐩𝐚!"
The last thing Dabi ever expected to deal with was a baby girl on his doorstep.
Apparently he was the biological father, and he was now the guardian of the annoying little thing.
But...maybe...

He was woken in the middle of the night by the insistent, nonstop crying of Hikari, her wails splitting the air as she gurgled and shrieked, tiny fists shaking pathetically.
He'd spent almost twenty thousand yen on a relatively comfortable crib for the baby, as well as another several thousand on toys hoping to keep her calm. That practically drained his so-carefully preserved wallet. And so far, all of those only worked a few times in the past week.
It was almost as though Hikari sensed that her mother had abandoned her, and the obvious reluctance her father harbored toward the idea of raising her. The girl had been born into the lives of not one, but two adults who didn't really want her at all.
So the baby took it out by crying.
Most of the time, that was all she did and nothing he tried ever ceased her wails.
Giving her a toy? Nope. Trying to read her a book? She couldn't understand, opting to wail and screech. Turning the music mobile on? That only made her cry louder. Giving her the baby food? She threw up a mess he had to clean up.
Only when he held her in his arms did she calm down.
However, it was difficult to bring a kid, let alone a baby, to his line of shady work. Dabi couldn't afford a babysitter, but he - A) did not want to bother with the safety of a five-month-old and B) couldn't really bother to take his so-called biological daughter with him to his odd jobs.
That pretty much ensured him the position of most disliked person in the slummy apartment complex, where Hikari's shrieks echoed through the paper-thin walls, day in and day out.
"Alright..." He rubbed the remnants of sleep from his eyes, stumbling over to where she was in her crib, sobbing her heart out, and scooped her up in his arms, "Alright, alright...stop fucking crying...I'm right here..."
Sure enough, her cries quietened into cooing as she peered up at him with those teal eyes so like his, still watery with tears. Her chubby hands reached for him, demanding attention.
