Lyanna's Perspective
“Hey, do you mind?” I look at my side and noticed a girl standing just almost only inch away from me. She’s tall, black haired, with grey orbs woman. She’s wearing a creme colored dress that has a v-line in front. Gorgeous is such an understatement, also she’s having this very bright smile that is almost annoying to my sight.
“I’m sorry, what? I’m not really a morning person, my head is all foggy right now so I didn’t hear you.” She smiles, even bigger now “Oh! It’s fine. I was just asking if you could grab me an apple there. It’s far but only if you don’t mind of course.” Right, both of us are standing in front of the table full of food. I just shake my head while giggling before grabbing her a green apple. Ripped and fresh.
“You look familiar, have we met before?” She asked curiously “No, I don’t think so.” Also this is the first time I saw her. I don’t remember her at all “If that is so, I guess this is the perfect time to introduce myself? I’m Charlotte.” She then offered a hand. I grab it and gently squeeze her palm “Nice to meet you, Charlotte. Well I’m-“ But before I could even finish a word I felt tight grasp on my arm.
“You’re just getting a tea, why are you taking so long?” I pull my arm back upon hearing that. She’s pinching my skin like it is some kind of cotton “Good morning to you too, Lesso.” She scowl and her gaze fell on the woman on my side. She eyed her up and down, already judging Charlotte’s whole being “Perfect! This is Charlotte.” I said, gesturing to the latter.
“I don’t care.” She responded bluntly, gaining a look from me. Charlotte on the other hand doesn’t seems to be bothered about it and in fact she’s giving Lesso the same intensity of stare “What are you doing here?” After that she moved me behind her, in a very protective manner.
“Why? I teach here, I live here. Your question is garbage, Lesso.” Now I’m very sure that they know each other. I beam my head out of Lesso’s figure, trying to get a look of Charlotte “Why are you talking to her like that, Lesso? That’s not nice.” Upon hearing that Charlotte looked at me.
“Now I know why you look so familiar.” There’s her smile again, but this time it looks so sarcastic “Nice to finally meet you, Lyanna.” Her eyes move from me to Lesso “She looks exactly how you described her. Hazel orbs, rose lips, and angelic face.”
She said that with a smile but also with a questioning bitterness “Wait, do the two of you know each other?” I asked, vividly confused with all of this “I don’t.” Lesso simply answered while looking at Charlotte who’s now emotionless.
“And I suggest you to be careful with the people you come close to. They’re not as stupid and kind like you.” With that, she clasped our hands then drag me to the table where Clarissa’s in “You shouldn’t have treated her like that, Lesso. She seem.. Harmless” But she didn’t say anything, didn’t even look at me “You’re crazy.” I added.
“Who are you talking about now, princess?” Dovey nudges me and smile “Charlotte, I’m sure you know her. Lesso mentioned that she’s one of the teachers here.?” She furrowed her eyebrows before looking at Lesso “She’s back? Why you didn’t tell me that she’s back?” Dovey then turn around and roam her eyes around the room “Where is she? Why I couldn’t find her?”
Her voice have a mixture of excitement and worry. That made me wonder if Charlotte and her are close with each other. “You should have known it first that she’s back. That crazy woman is your best friend after all, isn’t she?” For some reason I can feel a pit in my stomach. Like it suddenly turned upside down.
“If you doesn’t have anything nice to say then I suggest you just shut your mouth Lesso. We’d already talked about this so don’t make me start.” This is the first time in a long time that I heard Dovey like this, she doesn’t sounds annoyed but rather mad. Thing that rarely happens.
She drop her napkin on the table in a very aggressive manner before standing from her sit. “I am coming after you If I found out that you did something to her again.”
I was just sitting there with my eyes staring at my hands like there’s something interesting about it “Don’t threaten me like that, Dovey. You know how I am with her. Charlotte isn’t something you should defend. I know her better than you do.”
Dovey didn’t say anything and after a couple of seconds I heard her chair creek and soon enough she’s no longer in sight “That woman is so obsessed with Charlotte. I don’t understand her. There’s nothing special about Charlotte, she’s annoying and stupid.” I understand Dovey because if I were her and I heard anyone say something bad about my friend I’ll get mad too.
“Maybe you shouldn’t have really said that in the first place. Being nice for once won’t cost you anything, Lesso.” My tea is already cold when I took a sip of it and I no longer feel the need to eat.
“If you just know what that-“ She stop herself and stare at me as though she’s contemplating whether to continue it or not “No.” That’s all she said in between shaking her head. I don’t feel so good about whatever words she’s going to utter.
“Actually If you were just here..” That immediately formed a lump on my throat “If you just stayed here then you would understand me. But I doubt you could now. You’re clueless about everything, aren’t you?” I didn’t answer her, I stayed silent whilst trying to hold back my tears.
She knows how hard it is for me to leave, she knows I never wanted to leave. She knows that being away from them feels like hell. Lesso knows how hard it is for me to spend each day without them yet she still used it against me.
Despite knowing how miserable I am for those years she still chose to bring that thing up. I shouldn’t be surprised, she’s evil after all but I couldn’t help but feel disappointed. “I understand you very astute, Lesso. I’m sorry for saying those words.” That’s all I said before leaving. I want to scream at her face and ask why does she have to do that but I couldn’t. It’s my fault, I deserved it. Maybe not.
I make my way to my room but before I could even take a turn I heard a voice, a very familiar one “It’s okay. You know she’s always like that but hey? I’m here? I got you.” I move my head on the side and spotted Dovey hugging Charlotte. Dovey’s back is facing me while Charlotte’s head is buried on her neck.
“But she hates me, Dovey. She always do. All I have ever wanted was for her to treat me with kindness. I don’t know what happened, we used to be so close.”
Charlotte cried out “What did I miss?” I whispered to myself “How many things I missed?” At this exact moment I feel like both of my childhood friends are now nothing but strangers.
Lesso hates me more than anything and Dovey seems to find another person to drawn her attention to. Maybe I am correct all this time. They’re better off without me. Different from me, Dovey and Lesso could live without me.
“Don’t worry, I’m always here. I’ll protect you all the time. Even from Lesso.” I don’t want them to see me so I immediately run through the hallway and to my room.
