Lyanna's Perspective
The first day of new school year has been nothing but exhausting. Given that I am teaching in both schools, there are times that I will go back and forth class after class. Adding to that is Charlotte, she doesn't talk nor approach me after the incident earlier but she's always around giving me death glares and sarcastic smile.
Thank the heavens that Lesso is still no near of my sight because the moment I see her, I would never shut up ranting about my day and about that smirking woman. For sure she'd sympathize with me knowing that we share the same distaste for Charlotte. Now that all classes are done I want to do nothing but rest my feet and body, get rid of anyone who have the intention of ruining the remaining time of the day.
"You look tired." Dovey stated across me while scribbling something on her paper. We're on the library because I ask her for some book. I want nothing to do with her but she's the only one who have access in a certain aisle here so I don't have a choice. "Do I? Well that's probably because teaching Nevers and Evers are like training beasts in a zoo." I thought her students will be way better than Lesso's but as it turns out, they're just the same.
Almost all of her Evers asked me on why I'm their archery teacher given that I'm a woman. Explaining to them why one's ability should not be based on their sexuality really tired the life out of me. "Can I do anything for you? We can go to the garden and breathe while I make you your favorite tea, or perhaps we can go to your room and talk about your day?"
"That sounds amazing but I still have things to do." I grab the book that I need and immediately stand up. All her offers are tempting and if I stay here any longer I might give in and forget that I was mad at her. "Like what?" She grab the book from my hand and hide it behind her. "What are you doing, Dovey?" I ask in frustration. She's acting oddly right now.
"You're ignoring me.. . You're pushing me away. I can see it and I will not let you leave this room without letting me know what I have done for you to act on that way." Her expression is now covered with as much frustration as I have. Her eyes are glossy and wide open. "I am not ignoring y-"
"YES YOU ARE!" I was moved by her sudden outburst but then I remain calm and just stare at her. "You chose to go with Lesso earlier...." She stated in an offended tone as though what I did earlier is not something she expected. "We both know that if you were to choose between Lesso and I, you would always choose to be with me and that's when I know that something is wrong." Well that statement made me realize that Dovey really did change. She's like having this imaginary competition.
"Dovey, do you hear yourself right now? I admit that there is a reason why I have been distancing myself but really? You over Lesso? Yeah we do spend most time together, we understand each other but that doesn't make Lesso less of my friend." She bite her lips and look down. All this stress are going in her head and I bet she doesn't even know why she said those word. "I'm sorry." She hand me my book and put her hand onto her forehead.
"I'm j-just so frustrated right now and I don't even know why." The sight of her right now makes my head hurt so I put down my book and open my hands wide, offering her my embrace. "P-Please don't be like this, don't push me away." She stared at me for a moment before finally taking my body and squeeze the life out of me. I caresses her back as she sob on my neck.
Being a dean is really heck of a work, I thought she's enjoying it the entire time but little did I know how much stress it gives her. "Just to make things clear, I'm not ignoring you. I was just so busy that I barely think of my actions. Now I apologize for my actions, and for what I made you feel. It's all on me and I'm very sorry." Telling the real reason would just add up to her dilemma, she's clearly not in the right state to take any more worries.
"You're not mad at me?" She asks in between sobs causing me to smile a little bit. "No I am not mad, Dove. I have no reason do be mad. Now shush because you're ruining your makeup and my dress is all wet." I gently full her away from me and boy the sight did make me laugh. All of her makeup is mixed up on her face. Lipstick is smudge, mascara is ruined.
"Should we clean you first before we head out for dinner?" The woman is still sobbing yet still manage to nod. I assist her in the bathroom and wash her face. She didn't mind putting another make up and just asked me to fix her hair and clothes. "Will you sit beside me?" She asks so I nodded in instant. She take a last look of herself before we proceed to the dining hall. She's clinging into my arms as though I will disappear in no time.
When we arrived most of the students and teachers are already present. I take Dovey into the table wherein teachers sits, her food is already prepared in there and so as mine. After sitting I immediately caught the eyes of Lesso. She looked at Dovey then to me, having this weird questioning look on her face. I couldn't blame her, it happened too fast and she's probably wondering why I'm with the good dean. "Hey, eat your food." Dovey whisper on my side so I look away from Lesso.
The dinner went fast and silent. None of them really make an effort to talk aside from Dovey who will constantly check on me if I'm eating my food. The surrounding should be peaceful yet I can feel the intense gaze of Lesso which she's not trying to hide. "I'm sorry, I can't take you to your room, Dove." I said as I stop her from dragging me. "Why?" She asks. "I left something in my room and I need to fetch it as in right now." She offered to go with me but I refused it since that's not the real reason why I am leaving. After so many convincing she finally let me do my things.
