Charlotte's Perspective

I could still remember the excitement on my face the day before I am scheduled to go back here. I packed my clothes and other things as though I'm not ever coming home again. Did my hair, paint my nails, and bought different types of make up so when they see me, they'd be glad and in awe... just like what they also do before.

The delight in Dovey's eyes will be the first thing that'll will greet me. She'd look at me with such amusement and pour tons of compliments about my dress, and how she likes my new hair. Lesso on the other hand will just stand far and smirk as soon as having the sight of me. She's not a person to say any nice thing and will instead just say bunch of insult words but still I'd know that she's glad to see me again.

It's been like that for so many years. Everyone here knows how close and inseparable we are yet the day I arrived here I found myself standing outside the gate for so many hours waiting for one of them to open the door and greet me with smile. Time passed but even the shadows of them are nowhere. They must've forgotten that they're supposed to welcome me that day.

I set aside my annoyance and instead proceed inside and look for them. I asked every person I come by about their presence and they said the same thing. "Dovey and Lesso's with her in the hall." Who is her. I waste no time and go straight to the hall. That person doesn't even need to use her name to be known.

Teachers and students are having a normal dinner like the usual but then I wander my eyes and spotted the teachers table to be so occupied and crowded. They're all laughing and talking to someone. Dovey and Lesso are present and to my surprise they're not sitting at both ends of the table. They're sitting side by side of this girl who got everyone's attention.

I was so close on being disappointed that they would ditch me for some random girl but then the longer I stare at "her" the clearer I understand why. I felt a bang on my chest as I familiarize her face. She's no normal girl, it's Lyanna. Lesso and Dovey always talks about her that it almost feel like I live alongside them.

It's been years since the last time I saw Lesso smile genuinely. She wouldn't let anyone see it otherwise. Not Dovey, even more me yet by the way her lips rose effortlessly every time Lyanna will say a word it appears to be something she do all the time. "She never smile at me like that."

I stand there just staring at them blankly, watching how Dovey would put another food on Lyanna's plate whenever she's not looking and watch how Lesso pierced her eyes to the girl like she'd disappear into thin air. Have you ever feel this emotion where you're battled between feeling pain and anger? Someone took something from me yet I couldn't do anything about it because it is hers to take in the first place.

And I found myself in the same position once again as I stop from walking and spotted the three of them sitting in the garden. Lesso's on the grass while Lyanna's head on her lap and Dovey on the side playing with it.

“Do your ever think about straightening your hair and dyeing it black?" Lyanna ask while looking up to her. She barely say anything yet Dovey's already laughing. "How about purple?"

“What?”

“I'm just wondering how would you look like if your hair isn’t shaggy like it never experienced water and shampoo for decades.” She said in a matter of fact tone “I bet you’d look great.”

"What do you think about shutting the hell up and leave my locks alone? Don't make me start with you either, Dovey. Your hair is just as curly as mine." They look like they fit each other perfectly.

“It’s just a random thought, okay??? Besides it’s not bad to change something sometimes.”

“But you don’t like my hair anymore?” Lesso asked, with the tiniest concern laced on her voice.

“No, I love your hair, Leo. It’s smooth and fluffy. I’m in love with the feeling of it against my hand."

"But a purple color will be nice tho?" Once again Dovey burst into laughter.

"Pfft imagine that, Lesso." She stated in between laughers. "I'd bet my collection of tiaras, your students will never take you seriously if they see you with straightened and dyed hair."

"How about you start imagining yourself with no hair because I swear if you two don't stop.." The two didn't even bother to act scared because they just continue to laugh and talk about how they'll brush Lesso's hair if she ever decide to get it straightened. "I suggest a rainbow color." Dovey.

I saw something in their friendship that's not present in ours. They're willing to do anything for Lyanna and with Lyanna, be it something meaningful or stupid. And I've never seen them be so eager to finish their works to finally have some time to rest and spend the day with anyone as they are now. Dovey never like her dress to have stain or be curled up yet she sat on the dirty grass just to join Lyanna. Lesso always ditch the dinner yet ever since the girl arrived not even once she missed it.

What's the phrase? "If they want to, they would."

Lyanna doesn't need to ask or do anything to have what she wants while me on the other hand had to beg them to do the slightest favor I ask. I always want to spend time with them but they'll always refuse it and give me random excuses. I always make an effort to choose what gifts to give them yet every time they'll give me a gift it's the same thing they gave the previous years.

They immediately forgot that Lyanna left them. I disappeared in their lives as if I meant nothing, when I was the only person who's there when Lyanna is nowhere. Now who's there to blame me for my anger?
