Adhiraaj had been working for hours and finally decided to take a break. He checked the time on his wristwatch and saw that it was almost 8:15 pm. He closed his laptop and left his study, heading towards the dining room. However, as he approached the room, he noticed that it was completely silent, which was unusual. Normally, he would hear the sounds of silverware being set on the table, but there was nothing. As he continued to walk, he suddenly heard someone giggling.

Curious, Adhiraaj followed the sound of the giggles and soon found himself in the living room. There, he saw Ankita sitting on the floor, laughing at a silly TV show. She looked carefree and happy, without a care in the world. Adhiraaj was so caught up in her laughter that he forgot all about his work and just enjoyed the moment.

He was curious about Shyamla's whereabouts. Although the staff was scheduled to work until 7 pm, Shyamla and Lakshmi usually stayed back to cook dinner. However, he couldn't find Shyamla in the kitchen today, and he knew that Ankita wouldn't be wandering around in Shyamla's presence. So, he cleared his throat to make his presence known to Ankita. Upon hearing him, she immediately stood up, turned off the TV, and moved back a little while keeping her gaze down to the floor.

"I am sorry," she mumbled, trembling in fear. "Malti Didi said it's not safe in the outhouse, and she insisted I sit here. I did not want to watch the TV, but Didi said it was okay. She told me that nothing would happen. Please forgive me." She closed her skirt tightly in her fists.

Ignoring her words, he moved towards the sofa and sat there with his head resting on the headrest. He could see the shivering girl from his peripheral vision. Everyone was trying to get his attention, but this girl always wanted to be 10 feet away from him. Even though he had assured her that there was no need to be scared of him, she was still afraid of him.

He asked the frightened girl, "Where is Shyamla?"

"She... she went to the temple. I don't know where she is, but she hasn't returned yet. Please forgive her. I cooked dinner instead of her today. Please don't do anything to her. She's the only family I have," Ankita rambled out of fear. She knew that Adhiraaj didn't like tardiness.

"Did you hurt yourself, girl?" he asked, blankly staring at the ceiling. He could tell from Ankita's behaviour that Shyamla hadn't revealed that she was getting married to him. The deadline was coming up, and he didn't like that Ankita was being kept in the dark.

"No," she replied, waiting for his next order. But when he remained silent for a long time, she said, "I'll set the table," and ran from the room as if her life depended on it.

He chuckled at her playful actions and followed her to the dining room. Although he was initially hesitant about her entering the kitchen, where dangerous things could harm 'his precious', he was excited to taste the food that 'his Raniji' had prepared exclusively for him. He had heard rumours from the maids about her exceptional cooking skills, and he was eager to taste her food. As he entered the dining room, the aroma of the food hit his nostrils. He inhaled deeply, a satisfied smirk forming on his lips.

She regretted allowing Shyamla and Lakshmi to go to the temple and leaving her to face the demon alone. However, she also felt bad for them, as they had limited social lives since moving to the out house. She had sent them to the temple, expecting them to return for dinner, but received a call saying they were at the village fair and would be late. Shyamla suggested asking another maid to prepare dinner, but she felt responsible and decided to cook dinner herself. Not knowing Adhiraaj's food preferences, she made two curries, paleo, and parathas.

With trembling hands, she carried the last bowl of food towards the dining area but came to a sudden halt when she noticed Adhiraaj sitting at the table. She wanted to break her friend's heads for comparing Adhiraaj to a Greek god, as to her he looked more like a modern-day Ravana, with his piercing obsidian eyes fixed on her every move, causing her legs to feel weak. She wished she could drop whatever she was holding and flee to a place where she would not have to think of him. She dismissed her thoughts and proceeded towards the table.
