A/n: Merry Late Christmas! I know that I haven't been around much but I've also been working on the sidelines.

I hope you all enjoy your new years. And the rest of the holidays.

Case Name: You Could Be Mine In Another Lifetime (end.)

The second you open the door to your apartment, your mother's face appears. And you were reminded of a lot of things. One being how this woman was exactly how you remembered her to be. You were silly for thinking you'd ever forget her.

"How's my favorite daughter?" She teases and engulfs you in a tight embrace. You quickly reciprocate it and bury your face into her shoulder.

"Hi mom." You mumble. The look on her face resembled one of confusion but she accepted the hug and proceeded to gently rub your back.

"You Act like I didn't just come to visit you a month ago." She says with a laugh.

You say nothing as you pull away and let her in. Only to feel a body slam into your stomach. You look down and see a little girl with a head full of light brown hair. She lifts her head up and looks at you, her eyes sparkling with eagerness.

"Hi Auntie Y/n/n."

A smile breaks out on your face as you brush some of her hair from her face. "Hi baby bean."

The nickname slips out like you've used it so many times before and by the beaming smile the girl gives you, you know it was the right one.

As you sat with your mother at the counter, your niece was watching TV in the living room.

"Mom, have you ever forgotten part of your life before?"

Your mother lifted her head up from where she had it lowered as she typed on her phone. Her eyes met yours and you blink a few times, not at all budging on telling her more.

"I mean, no." She paused, "Why, have you?" She then counter asked.

Your hands rested in front of you, dinner cooking behind you, as your eyes lowered. Either you could tell her what's been going on or you could leave it be. Some memories have been coming back, filling in holes that didn't make sense before. But you still had a few gaps in your memory.

"Well... about a month or so ago I woke up from this really weird dream that I was living a completely different life. And now...I can't seem to remember some things in my current life."

Your mother lifted her eyes from her phone again when you stopped talking and tilted her head a bit.

"Like what?"

"Mainly my friendship with Jenna."

"Y/n, we've known the Ortega's since you started highschool. You don't remember moving to Coachella Valley during summer?" She asks. You shake your head.

"Huh." She says and you watch as her brows furrow slightly. "I mean, I can confirm that you know them. Because I know them. Hell, Natalie and I used to work at the same facility. She was my charge nurse at one point."

As she talked about it, you tried hard to remember but nothing was resurfacing.

"You and Jenna became best friends after she stood up for you to that one girl."

"Lacey?" You ask.

"Yeah!" Your mom snapped her fingers as if the pieces were coming back to her suddenly. "Her mother was the sweetest thing ever, never could understand how she ended up with such a bitchy daughter."
