"So what exactly are we looking for here?" Xavier said as they both waved their phone flashlights through the serene glade, the gentle breeze ruffling the crisp brown leaves,
"footprints, tracks, fallen trees, anything that says 'hey, a monster went through here'",
"Okay cool, and what if it did?" Xavier hesitated,
"Then it's our luck" Miles brimmed with enthusiasm,
"And if it actually was bear?",
"It can't be a bear, they don't typically kill humans, not unless they feel threatened" Miles responded, "then what if it felt threatened?".
Miles pointed his flashlight at Xavier's face, "I doubt it" they kept walking,
"Then what if it kills for sport, like some kind of rabid bear" Xavier halted after asking, "I also doubt that and... if I didn't know better I'd think you were trying to stop me from searching for this thing" Miles stared at him in suspicion,
"I, I'm not, I'm just thinking about what would happen if it actually is a monster or a bear and it tries to attack us, what happens then?" Xavier said as he continued to wave his flashlight, following behind flashlight pointing Miles, "well that's why I brought the football team's quarterback with me, in case of that, you're my first line of defense" the teenager joked, "unbelievable" Xavier sighed and displayed a small smile, "I know, I'm a genius right" Miles smugged as Xavier's facial expression changed,
"why'd you stop" Miles waved his flash back at Xavier who was curiously sniffing around him with a hint of worry in his eyes, he turned around to be met by two large boulders laying parallel to each other, "shit, we have to go" he said turning back to the direction they came from,
Dang it, how could he be so ignorant-
"wait" Miles protested, "we're not done searching and why... are your eyes glowing" he stared, "I can't explain now but trust me when I say we need to get out of -" a growl interrupted him "here" he released a disappointed sigh as a large dark oak brown wolf strode across him, viciousness in it's green eyes, "woah that's a pretty large wolf" Miles gulped as Xavier stepped in front of him, using his arms to try and shield him,
"well, what do we have here" a gray larger wolf growled from behind the both of them, "a human" it and a half wolf, still have the stench of an omega I see" the wolf sniffed and strode around them,
"we're just passing through" Xavier said, the wolf still striding, "of course you are but you see, this is the second time you've wandered into our territory as you please, even after the alpha specifically warned you not to" the gray wolf growled,
"Like I said, we don't want any trouble, we're just passing through" Xavier stated slowly trying to back himself and Miles away, "you do realize you're talking to a wolf right?" Miles raised his brow,
"even so, we have to make an example out of you, we can't have any other supernaturals thinking they can waltz in here and do as they please, it's bad enough that the humans do it",
"I understand, and we'll be on our way" Xavier said pulling Miles away,
"Not so fast." The brown wolf leaped in front of them, "who said you could leave?",
"What do you guys want?" Xavier sighed,
"Well" the gray wolf started, sounding obnoxious "as you can see, it's a full moon and as you may understand, we're tense, and...it's been a while since we took in a new beta" the gray wolf growled,
