"So where are we going exactly?" Flamberge asked Taranza.
Taranza never looked behind him, but instead always kept his gaze forward and his head up. He seemed like he knew exactly where he was going, and he was determined to get there. He had barely spoken at all during our journey. Considering how talkative he normally was, it was a little concerning.
"Taranza," Flamberge repeated. "Where are we going?"
Taranza still did not give her an answer. Even Sectonia looked a little concerned.
"Is he alright?" I asked her.
"I don't know," she said.
She quickened her pace to be in step with him. I watched them touch their heads as Sectonia whispered something to him.
They pulled away, and Taranza nodded his head. He had a slight smile on his face, and Sectonia took hold of one of his hands. I figured whatever she said to him was personal, and I didn't feel like asking. I guess Taranza was fine. Though it would be nice to know where we were going.
Finally, after a while, we stopped at the base of the biggest flower I had ever seen.
It was so tall, it reached above the clouds and into the heavens. At the top, were huge, beautiful pink, yellow, and white petals.
"Whoah, what is this?" I asked.
Taranza turned around and spoke to us for the first time in at least an hour and a half.
"This is the Dreamstalk," he said. "Some people could even say it's the gateway to the Kingdom of the Sky, Floralia. My home."
Sectonia comfortingly put a hand on his shoulder.
Taranza was from here? So then wouldn't he be a little more excited? Maybe he was worried about what's happened since the war.
I probably would be, too. There was a narrow path that ran up the giant flower. We carefully made sure to watch our step as we trekked up the Dreamstalk.
We had to go in a line, with Taranza leading, Sectonia behind him, Shadow Kirby in front of me, Flamberge behind me, and Daroach at the back with Elfilin in front of him. The path was incredibly steep, and a few minutes felt like hours.
"How much farther?" Daroach asked. "It's been five hours."
"I think it's actually only been ten minutes," said Shadow Kirby.
"I'm just glad I can float," Elfilin said. "It doesn't get as tiring."
I tried to distract myself by looking at the view.
Despite how tired I was, the view was amazing, and it almost made me forget about my current struggles. As we climbed, I saw islands floating in the sky, surrounding the great blooming flower.
No one was the same.
The first was full of pine trees and calm fields.
The second was an island full of sweets that could fuel anyone's sweet tooth.
The third was a little snowy, and there was a train that ran across the island.
The fourth was a jungle, and I thought I could make out an old abandoned building on the horizon.
The fifth was a fiery wasteland, filled with many volcanos. It made me wonder how it didn't harm the wildlife of the other islands. Maybe whoever lived there had a system for it.
The final island held a great palace, and a probably once very beautiful city. The damages on it looked somewhat recent.
Had the war done this?
