ZAYN'S POV:
I pulled up to the curb to Mr. Chafin's house after having followed the directions Sophie gave me. I heard her unbuckle her seatbelt beside me and I followed suit after looking out the window at our surroundings. I guess we were in a pretty safe part of town, but still, I needed to be here just to make sure. I also needed to tell Chafin what's going on.
"You coming?" I heard Sophie ask, snapping me out of my trance.
I shook my head and looked over at her to see her closing her door already.
"Yeah." I mumbled, unbuckling my seatbelt and turning the car off.
I got out quickly and followed Sophie to the front door. She didn't bother knocking, she just opened the door to the little cottage style house and walked in.
"Sophie?" I heard a woman call.
"It's me!" Sophie called back, a smile forming on her face.
I stood slightly behind Sophie as a woman came out of a doorway with a toddler on her hips. You could tell it was Chafin's kid, he looked just like him.
"Sowfee!" The toddler screamed, reaching out for Sophie.
"Rhyse!" Sophie said in a baby voice, her smile getting huge once the child was in her arms.
I smiled at her, she loved kids. It was obvious. She'll make an amazing mother one day.
"Oh, Suzanne, this is Zayn. Zayn, Suzanne." Sophie said, introducing me to Chafin's wife.
She smiled at me and shook my hand nicely, as did I.
Just then Chafin walked in with a smile on his face, but once he saw me, his happy expression was one of confusion.
I gave him a look that said I need to talk to him, and he nodded, obviously getting my message.
"Suzanne, how about you take Sophie and show her where the food we left for Rhyse is." Chafin told his wife, giving her a look as well.
She nodded and grabbed Sophie's open hand and led her through the door she came through moments before.
"This way." Chafin mumbled, leading me down a slim hallway into an office.
The office was messy. It was cluttered with papers and a giant piano in the corner. Pieces of music were scattered everywhere.
He took a seat behind the desk while I took a seat on the opposite side.
"What's all this about?" He started, looking serious.
It felt good to know that Sophie had a father figure in her life that cared about her like Chafin does. You can tell he treats and cares about her like he would his real daughter.
"Sophie's dad's coming back for her."
Chafin's face went blank. No emotion was readable, and I didn't take it as a good sign..
"Randy is back for her?" He asked, thinking I was joking or something.
I nodded my head and looked behind him at the wall. I couldn't think straight. Apparently, Chafin knows all about Randy. Ever since he got close to Sophie, he's been trying to keep Randy as far away from her as possible. He's told me all he knows, and he's actually been a great help in keeping her safe.
"You said you used to work for him, right?" He asked me, breaking my train of thought.
I nodded and he went deep into thought himself.
"We need to come up with a plan. Randy will stop at nothing to get to her." He said.
I nodded, "Trust me, he won't be coming near her while I'm around. I won't let him touch her."
