Katsuki couldn't be more grateful to his quirk gym yearly subscription, because he had full access to all the facilities they provided. Including their obstacle course.

The same couldn't be said for the others though.

Sero and Hitoshi were more than willing to pay the one-time fee. However, Katsuki learnt that Uraraka didn't exactly have a great background. Her parents were construction workers, so money was something she struggled with.

Just as the rest of them were offering to help her pay, the guy at the counter cut in, "Hey, uh... Your friend's subscription hasn't expired yet. Technically, I'm not supposed to do this, but... I can let the fee slide for her. As long as you can find his card next time you come."

Katsuki wasn't sure how to feel about that. But since the guy was kind enough to allow it, they accepted the offer.

The obstacle course in the gym was much simpler compared to what U.A would provide, but Katsuki was still suspended, so it would have to do. It was basically a runway with some bumps, walls to climb over, monkey bars to hang on and those sorts of things.

First, he owed them an explanation, "So... my quirk isn't super strength. It's actually a stockpiling quirk." There, a half-truth. "And I can use the energy I stockpile in different ways."

"Those scary whips one of 'em?" Hitoshi asked.

"Yes," Katsuki demonstrated to the others by summoning Blackwhip. Uraraka and Sero 'ooooh' while Hitoshi seemed to be studying the matter. "I want to try swinging around with them."

"So that's why you wanted me to bring my scarf," Hitoshi realised, grabbing onto said scarf that was currently on his shoulder.

"I'll be more than happy to help!" Sero grinned, pointing a thumb to himself.

"And what about me?" Uraraka tilted her head, confused.

"I also figured out I can float," Katsuki told her, "And I thought you'd be the best to teach me."

"I see," Uraraka hummed, "Well, I'm still kind of exploring using my quirk on myself, but I think I can give you a few tips...?"

Katsuki wanted to tackle Float first. Sure, Hitoshi and Sero swung around just fine, but using Float would definitely make it easier. "Well, I'll have to find a way to activate it first." Blackwhip had come out of nowhere. But if one of the previous One for All users thought he was ready, he hoped All Might's mentor would be willing too.

He tried concentrating, feeling One for All spark in his veins. He reached into the power, diving into it like a dark sea to search for Float. Katsuki looked for a while, but at one point, he found something. It was like a glowing star within the darkness. He 'grabbed' at the power.

Only for the group to be engulfed in pink smoke.

"Bakugou!" "Katsuki!" "Bakugou!"

"I'm alright!" Shit, that was the wrong quirk. This must be the sixth user's quirk, Smokescreen. Could he clear it or did he have to wait for it to pass? How far could it spread? He hoped he didn't get kicked out for filling the entire gym with smoke.

Before he could wonder more about the quirk, there was a large gust of wind, causing all the smoke to be blown away. The source of it was a tall guy with buzzed, brown hair.

"Thanks for that!" Uraraka called out to him, sheepishly rubbing a hand at the back of her neck, "Sorry for the trouble. Our friend is having some problems with his quirk."

"Am not," Katsuki denied, "I got this." He had to get this. How could he become the best hero if he couldn't even control his own quirk?

"Hey," Hitoshi placed a hand on his shoulder, "Don't stress yourself out. Let's just try again."
