The move into Lockwood Mansion, had gone off without a hitch; Not that they had a lot to move in anyways.
Tyler could already feel himself relaxing, the heat in his body from being at the boarding school had subsided. Minus the same normal tension his body held when the full moon was upon them.
They had put the house in Bonnie's name, for the obvious reasons. Tyler was technically dead as far as anyone knew, and he was glad to keep it that way for now, with the exception of his closest friends. The only Vampire they agreed to let in was of course Abby, and then Caroline, although neither had been invited in quite yet.
Standing in what was once Richard Lockwood's office, Tyler's eyes danced across the hanging pictures and the chocolate brow walls of the office, hadn't seemed to age over the years. The dark maple wood fireplace, with its mental still sat directly in the middle of the left wall, although it hadn't looked like it had been lit in a while. The matching desk to the fireplace, still sat at the center of the right wall with its brown captain chair and the glass windows glimmering behind it.
The leather sofa also hadn't seemed to move, only there now was a dark brown fur rug over the back with what looked like a soft Navajo Aztec blanket, mixed with different shades of brown, draped over the arm.
Tyler knew if he were to look behind him, on either side of the double French doors he had just walked through, there would be a book shelf, made of the same wood as the desk, and the fire place. The coffee table also matched the wood, and the leather chair that sat across from the couch also hadn't seemed to change, aside from the pillow that now sat on it, matching the blanket on the couch.
The office held a different scent though, it now held more of a pleasant musk mixed in with cedar and lemon, instead of the stall smell of bourbon. To someone with wolf senses however, it still held a same faint familiar smell of home.
Tyler closed his eyes, his dad was a dick, but he was still his dad, and despite his father's mistreatment of him, Tyler still loved him. Maybe it was time to lighten up the office though.
An invigorating scent of maple and Black Cherry wood, that reminded him of his time in the Appalachian mountains touched his nose. Although Tyler wasn't sure where it had come from, or why that scent would be in this house. Nonetheless, it relaxed him.
The hint of rose and cinnamon took over the other scents, and filled the room. Just the right amount of frankincense, and sandalwood lingered with it, reminding him of his mother Carol and her expensive perfume. Despite her being gone it was a strong scent.
That was a heartbreaking death for him, it hurt worse than anything Tyler had ever felt before, even shifting. When Klaus had ripped the hearts out of his hybrid pack He had felt ever ounce of pain and loss he could imagine. Despite the bind he had held with the hybrid pack at that time, his mother's death had felt worse.
Carol was the only women in Tyler's life he could never bare to disappoint. That was until he became a father.
"Daddy... which room do I get? Ben and Livvy said I don't get to pick."
Lexa's sweet little voice interrupted his memory, but he didn't mind. Opening his eyes he turned and crouched down so he was at the same level as his youngest child. The wood creaked ever so slightly beneath his wait, but was still sturdy.
Catching his daughter's bright, curious, green eyes, always so full of love he could not help but smile, she was a light in this world for sure. Why she always seemed so much smaller and younger than her siblings all the time, Tyler never knew. He wished her magic was just as small.
Tyler stroked her cheek lightly and started laughing. "Baby you can have which ever room you want except the master, we will give that one to your mom okay?"
