"You didn't have to sleep with the damn guy!"

Agent Richards' voice boomed through the phone.

"You have a daughter, Daisy. How would your daughter think of you if she knew that you were sleeping with random men?"

"Don't you dare bring my daughter into this! This was a one-time thing, okay? It won't happen again." Daisy snapped back defensively.

"Daisy, we've discussed the importance of maintaining professionalism. Your actions put both yourself and the mission at risk." Agent Richards warned.

"I know, I messed up. But it's not like I did it without reason. I had to get close to him, to gain his trust."

Daisy could audibly hear Agent Richards' tired sigh and she began to feel bad.

"You took matters into your own hands... I appreciate your resourcefulness, but you need to be careful with your methods." Agent Richards said in his deep voice.

It echoed with the weariness of someone who had been working long hours but also the concern of a friend.

"And please, be careful out there. Don't let it get any further than just this one mission, okay? Don't lose sight of your responsibilities."

Daisy took a deep breath, trying to calm herself down as she listened to his words. She hated the idea of disappointing him or letting him down.

"I promise I'll do better, Richards. I won't let my personal life interfere with the mission again."

"Good. Now let's focus on getting the job done."

Agent Richards' abrupt hang-up sent waves of rage and hurt coursing through Daisy's body, a visceral reaction that made her slam her phone onto the bed with a violent thud.

She screamed in frustration, her voice muffled by burying her face into a pillow. But beneath the anger was a deep sense of betrayal and disappointment in herself. How could she have slept with the person she despised for the longest time?

Daisy was startled by the loud knock on the door.

She quickly wiped away her tears and shoved her phone into her purse, trying to compose herself before answering. She took a deep breath and walked over to the door, mentally preparing herself for what was to come.

As she opened the door, her eyes widened in surprise. Standing before her was Carlton, his dark hair damp from the shower and a towel wrapped around his waist. Daisy's mind went blank as she forgot that he was in the shower.

"Hey," Carlton said with a smile that didn't quite reach his eyes. "I hope I'm not interrupting anything."

Daisy shook her head, still trying to process the unexpected sight in front of her. "No, not at all."
