As the afternoon sun shone through the windows, Daisy and Samson sat on the floor of her living room, surrounded by toys, with Sunny playing happily between them. Samson had offered to spend the day with them so he could get to know Sunny better and learn how to take care of her.
"So, what is our plan for today?" Daisy asked.
"Well, I thought we could stay here for a while and then maybe take a walk in the park," Samson replied, jiggling a toy in front of Sunny's face as she giggled.
"Sounds like a perfect plan," Daisy agreed. "I think Sunny will enjoy it."
As they played with Sunny's toys and took turns making her laugh, Daisy couldn't help but notice how well Samson interacted with her daughter. He seemed so calm and patient, even when Sunny started crying over something she couldn't have.
"Okay, so I have a question," Samson said suddenly after placing Sunny in her playpen. "How do you get her to stop crying?"
Daisy chuckled at his honest confusion. "Well, it could be because of physical discomfort, being overstimulated, tired, or simply wanting comfort and connection."
"Oh." Samson nodded thoughtfully. "And if that isn't it?"
Daisy smiled knowingly. "Sometimes babies just cry for no reason at all. They're still learning how to communicate their needs."
Samson let out an exasperated sigh. "That must be frustrating."
"It can be," Daisy agreed. "But it also teaches you patience and how to think quickly on your feet."
Just then, Sunny started fussing again, causing both of them to jump into action.
"I got this," Samson said confidently as he picked up Sunny from her playpen.
He walked around the room with her in his arms, trying different tactics to calm her down. But after a few minutes, it was clear his confidence was waning as Sunny continued to wail. Daisy watched him, a touch of amusement dancing in her eyes.
"Okay, maybe I don't get this," Samson admitted, handing Sunny back to Daisy with a defeated grin.
Daisy took her daughter into her arms and tried rocking her in a specific way but Sunny wouldn't stop crying. Daisy kissed Sunny's head and snuggled her until she eventually stopped crying.
She looked up at Samson who was standing there, totally amazed.
"She likes it when I hum a lullaby to her."
Samson observed as the little girl's eyes fluttered shut in the warmth of her mother's arms, soothed by the gentle humming. He watched in awe as Daisy expertly rocked Sunny to sleep.
"You're an amazing mom," he told her sincerely. Daisy looked up at him, surprised by the compliment. They shared a meaningful look before she broke the silence.
