Daisy was preparing to go on her trip to London, to start a new life with her daughter, and leave behind the pain inflicted by Samson.
Having abandoned her mission, she was too hurt and ashamed to confront her colleagues and superiors and just wished to erase the memories of the past.
However, as she approached the boarding gate, she noticed that her phone was ringing. When she checked the caller ID, she realized that it was Agent Richards, her boss.
She couldn't just ignore him.
She hesitated, then answered. "Hello?"
"Daisy, where are you?" Agent Richards asked, his voice urgent.
"I'm...at the airport. Leaving for London."
"What? London?" Richards' voice on the other end of the line was incredulous. "You can't just leave, Daisy."
"I can and I am," she replied, her voice shaky. She glanced at the boarding gate, her heart pounding in her chest.
"Daisy, you're one of the best agents we have," he pleaded. "We need you here."
"Well, I don't want to be a part of this anymore. I'm obviously not cut out for this mission. For this job. I don't have the mentality for it," she said bitterly.
There was silence on the other end of the line.
"Daisy, listen to me," Richards finally spoke, his voice softer now. "We have everything we need to catch him. We've got him on tape confessing his crimes, we've got evidence of fake IDs-"
She cut him off, "That's not enough. He's out there somewhere, laughing at us."
"You don't know that," Richards retorted. "And even if he is, it doesn't matter. We'll catch him."
"But what if we don't?" Daisy asked, her voice barely above a whisper.
"We will," Richards reassured her firmly.
Daisy was silent for a moment, trying to suppress the tears welling up in her eyes.
"I really thought I knew him," she admitted quietly. "I'm so fucking stupid."
"You're not the only one he conned," Richards voiced. "He's a professional con artist, Daisy. He's good at what he does."
"But I should've known better than to trust a criminal! Seriously, what was I thinking?! That he'd be the father of my child?!"
"Daisy," Richards interjected sternly, cutting her off again. "There's no point in blaming yourself for this. You did everything right."
"But-!"
"No buts," he insisted firmly. "When we arrest him, you'll be there."
