The sky was a dark, foreboding gray as Daisy made her way to the FBI headquarters.
She parked her car and made her way inside, greeted by the familiar faces of her colleagues. As she walked to her desk, she noticed Mr. Montgomery standing at the front of the room, addressing everyone.
"Good morning everyone," he said. "I have some great news - our hard work has paid off and we finally have enough evidence to convict Samson."
A collective cheer went up among everyone in the room, except Daisy.
"But that's not all," Mr. Montgomery continued, a smile forming on his lips. "We have also located Samson and are currently tracking him down."
Fear coursed through Daisy.
"I want all of you to join in on this chase," Mr. Montgomery announced firmly. "We will catch The Chameleon today - I can feel it."
Daisy exchanged a look with Richards, and he gave her a reassuring smile.
They made their way out to their car and followed the directions from their radios, soon spotting Samson's car in front of them.
"Let's go," Richards said grimly as he stepped on the gas, speeding up to catch up with Samson's car.
The radio crackled with directions as Daisy's pulse quickened. They were closing in on Samson. When they reached his car, her fear spiraled into confusion. The driver's seat gaped empty. It was a setup.
Richards pounded the steering wheel. "That bastard tricked us!"
A figure darted into a nearby alley. Daisy bolted after him, shoes pounding the pavement.
Shadows consumed the narrow alleys. Thunder rumbled overhead as she followed Samson through the streets.
Finally, she cornered him, gun aimed at his chest. "Freeze! You're under arrest."
Samson turned slowly, a smile twisting his lips. "We meet again."
Rage simmered in Daisy's veins at the sight of his innocent smile. "No more hiding, Samson. You're going to prison."
He smiled, appearing too calm for a cornered criminal. "I've been waiting for you."
Daisy's finger tensed on the trigger as she searched for his motives in those icy eyes.
Samson's smile wavered slightly under Daisy's harsh gaze. "I know it sounds crazy but.. I've gone through life feeling like an empty shell. No matter what experiences I had or how much money I got, I couldn't shake off this numbness. Scamming and manipulating is how I
understand love. And I know it's such a bad way to cope but I just want to feel normal."
"Save it, Samson," she spat through gritted teeth, her finger still on the trigger. "I've heard enough."
